To all the RRS gearheads I have a question:

I have the TVC-24L tripod and would like some tripod leg protection on it. Unfortunately I do not have a gear shop down the road and need to order it over the internet. Hence I'd like some suggestions to leg protectors that fit that particular model. Any experiences out there?

Have a look at this company: LensCoat.

Just make sure you get the one that comes to the diameter of your legs. Your Top Tube Diameter is: 1.28 inches / 33 mm.

    Happy shopping :D

I did check them out, but they are fastened using velcro, and I wonder if they do not have a tendency to move around, that they are not tight enough?

I think you will find that most 3rd party tripod leg raps will use velcro. I have been very happy with the ones on my TVC-23. Mine stay right where they should...the back of the raps have this tacky substance on them that holds very firmly on the tripod legs. Kkanuck also has the same setup on his TVC-33 and from what he has told me he is pleased with his raps as well.

You can use a closed cell foam called 'kayak foam' in a 9/16" thickness, wrapped around the legs and glue the seam with a good contact cement used for laminated countertops..
