What DSLR models will be posted on the Nikon USA web site on Jan 31, 2014?

I sat down this evening with a good drink thinking about the current DSLR models listed on the Nikon USA web site and thinking about the future of Nikon's DSLR's. What models makes sense for the next year? Below are my predictions as to what DSLR's will be on the web site the end of January 2014.

Remaining DSLRs:
FX: D4, D3X, D800/D800E
DX: D7100, D5200, D3200

New DSLRs to be added:
FX: D610
DX: D5300, D2000 (entry level model - my guess on the model number)

Existing DSLRs to be removed from the web site. These will be formally discontinued and phased out as the warehouse clears their inventory.
FX: D700, D600 (famous dust problem)
DX: D300S, D90, D5100, D3100

This reduces the number of DSLR models from 12 to 9 (not counting the D800E) on the web site. Removal of the D3100 makes room for the new D2000 since many stores are selling the D3100 at very low prices.

What DSLRs models will be posted on the Nikon USA web site the end of January 2014? What is your opinion?

Over the next few months I also expect the following to happen:
1. Nikon will authorize repair stations and dealers two options for D600 owners with dust problems. A free replacement of the mirror assembly and shutter assembly OR an upgrade to the D610 for a nominal cost. They will avoid making a big deal of this at a press conference.
2. Nikon will talk about their DSLR strategy in general terms. They will confirm that work continues on the next updates for the D4 and will continue on other models as time permits. Yes it will be vague.
3. Hint that the D7100 will be the top of the line DX or hint of a new pro level DX for sports and wildlife photographers. (That either kills the D400 form or bring it to life.) I really think they are evaluating all models and will make a commitment if there will or will not be a D400.

Spraynpray....The D7100 replaced the D7000 and a six month overlap in selling both is appropriate and now past due. I don't expect it to be on the web site come the end of January.

Sevencrossing. I am convinced there will be a D810, but not by the end of January. 18 to 24 months is the typical replacement period so maybe late next year. And of course Nikon is behind in their redesigns so it could be longer.

    .
Considering that Nikon is still selling the D90 new, over four years after its release, expect to see the D7000 on that list for a while.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

    Maybe we overlooked a D314... >:)

But the D7000 did not replace the D90, it was a significant other camera, and hence the D90 is still there...

    I reckon:

    Staying:
    FX: D4, D3X, D3s, D800/D800E
    DX: D7100, D5200, D3200

    New:
    FX: D4x, D610
    DX: D5300

    Removing:
    FX: D600
    DX: D300S, D7000, D90, D5100, D5000, D3100, D3000

This way they are staying with just a few sensors - all the DX cameras will be 24.1MPs

I don't know why people think the D700 is still there, it is not (http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/)... And, it is too soon to introduce a replacement to the D800/D800e.

Fat chance that Nikon will give deal to Existing D600 Owners. They will produce same crap D600 and D610 same time until they sold all D600.

Nikon become old FORD (Found Dead on Road), lets fix problems in Field and give crappy Product and Services to customers. As soon as some lens maker comes with solution for Nikon mount then Nikon will be in bad Shape.
They need to get their head out of send and see Reality.

@kpatel55: Your outlook is very bitter. If you are truly so unhappy with Nikon, why not sell you current gear and move on to a different manufacture...save us the hate.

My point was that you didn't have the D7K in either column.......

What happens if Nikon makes a D700s? Puts a D4 sensor into a D800 body, gives it 8 native fps? 10 with a battery grip, why not? :D

It would be a shame to waste the 16 mp D4 sensor.

Then the D4s can have 24 mp and 10 fps. The D4x will have 36mp. The D800 and D800e will merge into one, like the D7100 did, call it a D810.

Then a D400, DX flagship, comes out and all the Nikon enthusiasts would be incredibly happy!

    There's a camera for everyone!

Why not? Sounds like you could get D4 performance out of a body that is almost half the D4 price.

Just got back from visiting family and will try to respond to some of the comments.

Spraynpray said: My point was that you didn't have the D7K in either column.......

Yes your correct, that was an oversight. I do expect the D700 will not be listed on the web site as Nikon tries to move more D7100.

I am convinced the D400 is a mythical camera. It doesn't exist in the development process and won't be on the web site the end of January...said to say.

    Sevencrossing:
Oh I agree with you there will be a D810, just not that soon.

I expect that Nikon will clean house on the number of models. The D90 was an excellent camera and old school compared to current cameras. It's time to stop making them and let people chose between the D5300 or D7100.

As for the D7000. Why would you offer both the D7000 and the D7100 for a long term? I bet their inventory will be gone by the end of the year. Cameras are too close, so put the focus on selling more or the current version. As soon as the inventory is gone stop making them.

Yes, agree with that summary. I also found it interesting that all the DX bodies have the 24.1 MP sensor.

As I read many of the different forms it's interesting that people expect a D700 replacement...that has been discussed and some just don't accept the D800 as it's replacement.

Time will tell. Based upon one users comment in the D600 dust problem and what that Nikon representative told him, I think there is the chance for a positive outcome. Time will tell.

Bringing this one back to life.

Here is what I said back in September 2013:
    Remaining DSLRs:
    FX: D4, D3X, D800/D800E
    DX: D7100, D5200, D3200

    New DSLRs to be added:
    FX: D610
DX: D5300, D2000 (entry level model - my guess on the model number)

Existing DSLRs to be removed from the web site. These will be formally discontinued and phased out as the warehouse clears their inventory.
FX: D700, D600 (famous dust problem)
    DX: D300S, D90, D5100, D3100
    ================================
So I was doing some research tonight and here is what I found on the Nikon USA web site:
    D4S, D4, D3x,
    Df, D800, D800E
    D610, D600, D300S
    D7100, D7000
    D5300, D5200, D5100
    D3300, D3200, D3100
    =================================
What did I miss for new cameras..the D2000 entry level DSLR.
And yes, due to inventory Nikon has not discontinued the D300S, D7000, D5200, D5100, D3200 and D3100.
    ==================================
What I would like to see by the end of the year:
The following removed from the web site as officially discontinued:
    ----->D7000, D5100, D3100 and the great D300S.
Nikon will continue to sell the D5200 and D3200 and D4.

I would like to see the D9300 (replacement to the D300 & D300S) and a D2000 for the entry level DSLR. I had given up on the D9300 until it was posted last month. My bet is "it will come" and people will "buy it". When is the question. My projection is November 2014.

I figure we needed some forum to voice what model we would like to see rather than what features. So here is your opportunity to voice your humble opinion.

D800s (Upgrade of D880E), and the D9300, a true professional crop sensor replacement for the D300s.

Beet that D800E comes in Q1 next year.

I really hope you are right on the D9300. As you know I gave up on the D400 a long time ago but after the D9300 posting I am eagerly waiting for it. Will skip the D7200 and go direct to D9300.
