Popular Photography announced their choice for camera of the year. The Sony A7R

http://www.popphoto.com/news/2013/11/2013-camera-year-sony-a7r

It is an interesting new camera for sure, but they said it still didn't out-resolve the D800. But it's less expensive than the D800 by several hundred dollars.
Nikon D7100; AF-S DX 35mm f1.8; AF-S DX Macro 40mm f2.8; AF-S DX 18-200mm VRII; SB-700 Speed Light and a bunch of other not very noteworthy stuff......

I had the opportunity several weeks ago to play with the A7, same size as the A7r. Nice small camera with many positives. I would skip the A7r and buy the D800.

The A7r should be put up against the D800E, since it has no AA filter. Most early testers were saying the A7r has slightly superior high ISO noise performance than the D800(E). Then again the D800(E) was released in 2012, so they wouldn't even be in the running.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

Mmm…1.5 FPS, ISO of 1600…above this showing noise which they stated was unacceptable if I read the test correctly….....the test did not show how it works in action sports…...obviously this camera represents a move forward, but not even approaching something I would find useful except for limited venues.

My guess is if the camera were shooting 8 FPS the heat/noise would also be more pronounced.

Apparently the fast focus is quicker in the less expensive A7... but even then you're looking at 2.5 FPS or some such.

Where I think this might be a game changer is that, with adapters, apparently you can use all sorts of manufacturers' lenses. I haven't seen many reviews of that yet though, except that Leica-M lenses apparently vignette fairly heavily and the best place for M-glass remains on an M.

Yes, 1.5 FPS and a much lower ISO usability would make think long and hard about this one. The only advantage I can see is it's a good price for a high MP in a smaller full frame body camera.
