But they have the new 80-400mm and it will be in my hands come Monday. I saved for a long time but it paid off with a $400 rebate. \:D/

No D-glass, again. Odd. You would think they'd want to clean out stock.

If list accurate, no 300/4 => no imminent update.

    15 lenses on rebate
does it means we are getting 15 updated lenses ?
one of which was made 'yesterday'
rebate or not, nikon is gonna 'earn' they just 'push' the sales

It's not as simple as "15 lenses, 15 updates".

Last year the old 80-400 had a huge outsized rebate. That was a signal.

This year, there aren't any signals. $400 off new 80-400 is OK, but proportionately isn't out of line with the $100 off the 28/1.8 because the 80-400 costs nearly 4x as much.

If a person was buying anyway, they can save a little money. If a person wasn't already buying, I doubt these rebates will push anyone from one side of the fence to the other. Disappointing.

You hit the nail on the head. The rebates just are not big enough to push me to buy a lens. Sad.

    better deals last year :(

I actually believe the $100 off of 85/1.8G is excellent (bought last year for same rebate) and $300 off of both 16-35VR and 24-120Vr is very, very satisfactory. The 16-35VR regularly goes for $1,100-1,150 USED so take advantage. You could even buy new and resale for a small profit (after rebates end.)

I agree, the 85mm piques my interest, but it might be a bit strange on DX. Good lens to stock up on though if some of you guys are planning a move to FX.

Maybe the retailers will double the rebates like they did for the Canon lens rebates giving us tremendous deals...

Now that would open my "slush fund" and i would be buying lens. Now go sell that idea to B&H, Adoroma and the local dealers. LoL.

the 16-35 is calling out my name. :D

Answer the call, it's a beauty. It may be trashed by some popular technical reviewers, but it is a great lens.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

This would be great for my city shots but I'll think about it.
I would primarly shoot it at f/8 for my city shots. I want to re-create some shots when i had the sigma 10-20 dx.
I would have to get rid of something to buy it today. Maybe I can selly my flappy bird ipad or iphone. lol

The 16-35 and the 24-120 both have pretty nice discounts.

Well it was B&H and Adorama who did double-dip the rebates for Canon lenses resulting in fantastic deals, most much cheaper than even buying used! I call discrimination if they don't do the same for Nikon lens rebates.

I've bought and sold at least a dozen lenses in the past 3 years alone, but the first lens I ever bought "brand new" was my 85 f/1.8 during last years rebates. It's become one of my favorite lenses. I've been watching 16-35s on ebay for a a few months, and the rebate price is better than 80% of the used sales. Ordered one from Adorama this morning. If I don't like it, I'll sell it and at least break even. Nothing to lose.

@hawkdl2 you can return to adorama within 30 days

Amen! That would be so nice if they did double them. My slush fund is pretty deep right now and itching to be spent.

Hmm. I 've been considering an upgrade for the 20ish to 70ish focal range with my current kit (between the 12-24 and the 70-300). Had been considering the 16-85, the 18-140 and a couple of others. Then thought about the 24-120 also as an option for travel zooms. Some attractive discounts right now.

But I'm not ready to pull the trigger. I need to see if the 18-200 I still have will satisfy on both the D7000 and D7100. If not, then I should rent the others and try before I buy. Can't do all of this before the end of February, so I'll have to pass on this set of discounts. Maybe next time. wow - a brief moment of sensibility. I don't expect it to last.

The 24-120 is better than the 18-200 unless you need the longer "reach" the 200 offers. Be sure to compare them on the Nikon web site and look at the length and weight if those are criteria for your decision.

yes, the NAS; she still whispers to me in the odd, quiet moment.

    I must be strong.

B&H has started to double dip the Canon lens rebates. Anyone spotted anything with Nikon Glass?
