Had a D90 with 18-105 & SB700 stolen from the Children's Museum in Boston yesterday 4/26. Is there any place to register the Serial numbers on popular sites , "just in case"?
I have filed a report with police and given them the SNs, but don't expect to get very far in that.
Remember to put your camera serial number in the EXIF information the camera tags to every image. Most folks are not savvy enough to go to the trouble of removing it and then start doing Google searches for it. Quickly find out who has your camera.

I read this a few years after I bought my D300 and added the serial number to the EXIF info. Great tip, thanks for bringing this up to the users here.

Yes but many photo editors (including Lightroom) by default strips out the serial number field during export, so you'll have to manually configure this field for export (or use a setting that exports all metadata).
It is also worth noting that unless someone download the original file size, hence, any size smaller, the EXIF file will be limited in info, including the lack of the serial number.

There is more than one service to track stolen/missing cameras over the Internet.
Here are a couple of articles:

I've been robbed twice, so I do feel your pain. I've had two rather extensive collections of cameras, lenses and accessories stolen.
My best,
Mike
