Although I am not a video shooter, I was on the RRS web site today and found they have a new video tripod head.
http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/FH-350-Fluid-Video-Head.html

Not sure how long this has been on the market, but it's their featured product when you go to the web site. Be sure to watch the entire self start video to see all the features. Sure looks like a great product and it's already on 10 week back order. Oh, it cost $1695 USD.

This fluid head is just amazing. A prototype was first introduced at the 2013 NAB...code named FH-55. Their new FH-350 features and price is blowing the door of their competition...specially when compared to what O'Conner and/or Cartoni fluid heads have to offer.

Personally I'm waiting to get their VG-02 when it comes out. It, too, was introduced at the 2013 NAB.

I wish RRS would make a geared head. They know how to do things right...and while expensive, theirs wouldn't cost me as much as a custom-built high-precision head. I now own a Manfrotto 410 geared head, but the turn knobs are crude and have too much hysteresis. I don't care much for ball-heads, and although I have one I normally prefer to use either my geared head or a pan head.

Really Right Stuff are the best, there products never let you down and can take a serious beating. There customer service and shipping are also top notch. My BH-40 works just as well now as the day I bought it. Interesting info on the geared heads. Also, thanks for passing this video on Golf.

I have a Manfrotto monopod with a fluid head. A great piece of kit, but not as good as the previous version which was so much better made.

    Cheers,

    Hval

Manfrotto also makes excellent long lasting, abuse absorbing gear also you are right. I definitely need to do some more research on these fluid heads though... :-/

It's going to be fun watching this new contender from RRS become the #1 video head for professionals.

I am on vacation and Internet connections are weak so pardon any long delays before I follow-up to comments on this new video head.

All the video was shot using this new head. Moreover, Mr. Giman uses a lot RRS gear.

I have resisted RRS products for a number of years, questioning the premium. Six months ago I weakened and bought the top of the line ball head from them, that's all it took, I'm hooked. I ordered the fluid head a week ago, along with several attachments and the leveling base. They cautioned me that my order was about ten weeks out, and the line was getting longer by the day.

If you are on the fence about anything RRS, just close your eyes and go for it, you'll not regret it. Their customer service is wonderful as well.

No surprise that it's out to 10 weeks for the new video head. Wish I would have jumped into RRS ten years ago instead of 6. It's outstanding gear....especially the macro rail. Said that to nudge Golf. =))

I just checked the price...Two bids and it's over $320. Looks like your buying a new one. Unbelievable that the price is where it is. [-X

Thank you Sir! RRS is also introducing a very nice "slider" unit. I went with Edelkrone's Slider Pro because of it's very high quality and unique design. The Edelkrone unit is close to double the RRS slider, but it has features no other slider incorporates, and accessories like auto slide and subject tracking.

I have seen the Edelkrone Slider Pro in action...it is a very nice unit and if I had a need for a slider, it would be at the top of my list.
