What phone do you use?

I am asking because the Motorola G, great phone as it is, has an atrocious camera. I like everything else about it- speed, ease of use, and more importantly price.

Here's a sample of its output.

Brooding. The Moto G camera is so terrible. However, it does look like a painting.

It looks more like an oil painting at this point.

So I'm going to ask you guys- what phone do you use and do you like the camera on it? I am more interested in the Android side of things, as it's obvious to me that the iPhone puts out decent photos. Microsoft phones apparently do output nice files, but their user interface puts me off.

And if you guys want a cheap unlocked phone, I'd still recommend the Moto G. Just don't depend on its camera.

Most cell phone cameras are terrible, and won't do much better in anything but the brightest lighting conditions. Save your money and keep what you have now.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

I have a galaxy s3. Camera is so so. It looks good on my phone screen but even at 4x6 you can see a drastic difference in my camera phone and my d5000 shots. Just think about the camera lens onthe phone. Would we be buying $1000+ lenses if the small piece of glass on a camera phone could do just as good? Plus realizing that zooming is digital and drastically reduces resolution. I did see an interesting galasy s4 zoom...that is basically an s4 with a camera attached. Not sure how great it is though and it looks kind of dumb imo.

    iPhone 5.

Usually unhappy... But ALWAYS happier with it when I first clean the lens of all the grime and fingerprints! ;-)

Camera is, as expected, pretty awful, but I still have 1,800 photos on my phone. I use it for documenting stuff I'm doing and the occasional opportunistic shot.

It is more often than not 'the camera I have with me'.

... And no time to use them.

Does anyone own a Moto X? I heard mixed things about the camera on it.

No, I agree, camera phones in general aren't great, but I'd like something slightly better for my every day camera.

My ideal phone would be a better camera on something that runs stock Android. I'm not savvy enough to root a Samsung or rich enough to buy a HTC. I'd be willing to pay about $350 for it.
IPhone 5s - works well for what it is.
The iPhone camera has some good image quality, but although I like Apple laptops, I never really liked their phones.

I agree- I'd like a bit more quality out of my every day phone. Everything else about it is excellent.

    Samsung S3 mini.

    Phone - crap
    Screen - crap
    Camera - crap
    Battery life - crap

    Apart from that, fine.

Samsung Galaxy S5. Photos are pretty good for a phone I think. Selective focus can be a nice touch. Doesn't compare to a DSLR though.

I like the hardware of Samsung, I just don't like the software. I really like stock Android.

Your link doesn't work by the way.

In terms of battery use, the Moto G actually can handle a little more than a full day's worth of heavy use in my case. Everyone' "heavy use" mode is different, but I got home with around 25% battery left. My day started at around 7:00 am and ended at 7:00 pm, and I used wireless data a bit.

iPhone 5. Takes a decent picture, but I don't think any cell phone camera is really good:

    GS Forum Desk 4-23
    Nikon D7100; AF-S DX 35mm f1.8; AF-S DX Macro 40mm f2.8; AF-S DX 18-200mm VRII; SB-700 Speed Light and a bunch of other not very noteworthy stuff......
