I bought it used for a song but after a few hours use the power supply burned out. So I made another one out of some parts I had around. I need to try to use it more. I find that I lend it to makeup artists more than I use it for photography.

Cool. I have this one I got on sale from Adorama. I've only used it with batteries - haven't even tried the adapter, as far as I remember. I mostly got it to give a source of somewhat diffuse light for dark areas when I'm in old buildings. But I am planning on trying it for portraits too.
