    Further - I shoot most of my domestic/amateur stuff in JPEG. For me that's 97%. It takes discipline to check what you're locking into that JPEG though - picture styles, white balance, exposure, ADR all have to be "right".

    Get it wrong and you suffer enough to wish you had shot RAW instead. To prevent that, I flip over to RAW whenever pay is involved, or whenever the light is challenging.

    Are the Vivitar 500mm long lenses any good, or is the mirror ok?
    I had a "hate" relation with this lens and moved on to the Tamron 200-500mm lens. Really an excellent lens.
    I had a Canon friend who had the Sigma 150-500mm lens and it was also tack sharp.

    Check out the new Tamron 150-600mm lens. There are some great BIF pictures on NRF taken with this lens. Also don't overlook the 80-400mm Nikon lens. If that is out of your budget go with the Tamron.
