I just checked and I did use the 85 withe d810. photos came out great. the zoom is a great option for events. I shot it at f8 for the group shot its ok but the primes look much better imho.
If I had two bodies and was in a city, I would have a 35 on one camera, the 85 on the other, and a 200 and 14-24 in the pockets. My Billingham photo vest has big pockets. What the hell, I would put my 50 1.4 in as well. It is small.
If I am doing landscapes, I would have my 28 and 50 1.2 on the cameras as they are my most used landscape lenses. I would have the 20, 85 and 200 in the pockets.
I think two cameras is a great option. It seems I need a 35 though.

I am going to be doing a shoot of LEO's in action at night. Most likely, use 24mm f/1.4 Nikkor on a D800E, 85mm f/1.8 Nikkor on D4. Two bodies is about all I can handle….I can see a 35mm f/1.4 Sigma in place of the 24, but like the idea of being slightly wider so I can crop.
