Once in a while you have to brag. I entered this picture into a local photo contest and won first place for wildlife and first place overall for all categories. This was also the very first picture I posted on PAD. Enjoy.

First day out with the 300 f4 if ed (non af-s). Seemed to track this hawk ok even though everyone says it too slow for BIF.. D7100, Nikon 300 F4 at F4, 1/2000, ISO 400
With regard to my earlier post, I used the free transform option in PSE 11 to drag out the two top corners in order to straighten out the tree trunks on the left and right edges that were bending in somewhat after the panorama stitching. This allowed for a wider usable crop.

Haven't posted on PAD for a while. This was taken with an ailing D7100, which in addition to smudges on the sensor, refused to shoot in any mode other than full Auto. The camera was replaced yesterday, so kudo's to Best Buy for taking care of me so well!

I was in my truck, scouting out what I'd heard was a popular sunset location, when I came around the corner upon a flock of turkey vultures working on a dead possum. Additionally, there were a few of the vultures circling above..
And my shot for the day....D800E, 85mm f/1.8 Nikkor (Manual Focus Non CPU lens from about 1967)
Many of these head shots are taken nearly sitting in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car, 900 HP running at idle about a foot away.... this is so exciting as everything is vibrating as the image is captured....
Another picture from my ailing D7100. This is Chimney Rock, which is about 30 miles outside Asheville, NC.
