True. But there is so much discussion on this issue, a dedicated thread will always be on the first page and it will be easy for Pitchblack to ignore. The first post could be Sevencrossing's list two posts ago. If DX vs FX is brought up anywhere else, we shoo them away. Talking about shooting FX in DX mode is not DX vs FX.

I disagree. In real life we have meetings for particular topics and stick to it. If you want a fireside chat, that's a different model and there will be nothing but one big thread...

Thank you @sevencrossing for doing the research. It's getting so darn old seeing forums digress into DX vs FX. PitchBlack isn't the only one avoiding those discussions.

Hopefully the "DX Mode vs Real DX Police" will stop people from bringing this up in other forums and asking them to move the conversation to this forum.

There' s a difference between "Forum", "topic" or "thread". And what's also becoming tiresome to read are long quotes with just a bit of own work like "+1", "Agreed" or likewise if the original post is only 4 posts above in the same thread / topic. It just doesn't give a better overview.

So, which of those threads in the list should be used to further DX vs. FX "discussions"? I count 17 and maybe the list is incomplete. Avoiding getting into it appears to be the only solution. But does this answer future questions of future members?

This why I think the forum need dividing up into sections similar to the cafe

You could have a complete section on DX vs FX
(where any one new to the forum could be be completely confused by all the arguments about reach, Dof, fov high ISO performance etc)

A whole section on the emperors new clothes ( when will get a D4x a D400 a D9300 or a mirrorless F mount

One on Primes vs Zooms

One on third party glass

Oneon "why did this happen" ( any post without full EXIF data would be deleted)

And just for me. An FX Nikon fanboy club

I don't think 'Emporers new clothes' fits really seven, nobody is saying they have a D400 with lots of people saying how good it is?

Maybe we need a whole forum to discuss what we should call it....

My suggestion is that anyone who wants to continue this discussion about the forum itself starts a new thread.

It think this thread was helpful for some people (although very confusing) before it was hijacked by the FX police.

It is not strange that a thread called "Dx mode vs real DX?" talks about differences between FX and DX. And for anybody not interested it is very easy to not participate.
