People sure are passionate about this.

P-mode is like a Parachute. It is nice to have even if you have no intention of ever using it. :)

But then all the cool kids shoot manual so if you wanna be a cool kid...... ;)

Tested P mode today with my Tamron 24-70.. As I thought.. it definitely changes the shutter speed if I zoom between 24 to 70 mm ie at 70 mm the shutter goes to a higher speed..

Hi All. I am enjoying the discussion. My dumb question If we could use our favorite photos ( to be selected ad and identified and inserted or added the matrix of the reference 30k images would not the camera become more "My camera" and the P mode become more customized to the I like to shoot? TIA

I doubt the images in there are great, I expect they are tiny examples of extreme lighting situations with exposure correction data associated with them.

We need a 'decisive moment' sensor.

For those of us with a malfunctioning one between the ears?

We already have "best moment capture". It buffers 40 photos before and after you push the shutter. You can pick the best ones, or let the "Smart photo selector" choose for you. Seems like a "decisive moment" selector if there ever was one.
