Haha, so can this buddy shed some insight on the build quality? That's the million dollar question?
  • PhotobugPhotobug Posts: 5,751Member
If the buddy doesn't work for Nikon or as a supplier his knowledge of build quality and the fps must be based upon what.....oh I got it....another SWAG!

If it is a D700 replacement, the build quality should be as good as the D810.

I don't expect it to be the D700 replacement; it's just a model between the D610 and D810 specifically for action photography....what every that is! :))

It really appears that the D300/D300s and D700 are not being replaced. The D750 is for a specific type of photography that will be used for sports and non sports photography - not a specific replacement for a specific model. But as the specs are being refined and published as rumors if you want to call it a D700 replacement tweaked for sports/action photographs then go for it..

So did Photokina start or not?

And why did Nikon announce the D810 so early?

Photokina is in Cologne, Germany from September 16-21. So we have to wait a little over two weeks.
I expect the Admin will receive a couple more rumors on the D750 before the announcement. Hopefully the announcement comes on the first day of Photokina.

I Goggled the D750 and found several pictures or doctored pictures. I can't tell from this photo if the body is the size of the D610 or larger. My gut tells me it's bigger than the D600/610. Of course, we don't know if its a real pictures or a doctored DXXX.

They're fake, some of them even created by NR members for fun.
Trust NR. If there really was a real picture, you would see it here.

Just hoping the confirmed 51 focus points are those from the D810 not those from the D7100 i.e. they will be well spread over the viewfinder. It doesn't say...

latest D750 main blog info makes the D750 look like its a D620. or rather what the D600 should have been in the first place!

so the D600 fiasco continues .. :-) .. they make the D610 to distance themselves from the D600 but got forced to use the D610 as a replacement for the D600. so now they need a camera for where the D600 should have been in the first place... !

Maybe now this camera class can be as well received as it originally should have been if they didn't mess up with the oil spots. and the weaker low light AF (it was painful to watch the 6D beat its(Df + D600) pants most soundly in low light AF shootouts)

I saw this post on the blog:
D750 to be announced this month, specs: 6.5fps, AF unit same as the D810
    D610 might be discontinued soon

Not surprised that it's the same AF unit as the D810. Disappointed it's 6.5 fps instead of 8. Very interesting that the D610 could be discontinued.

@spraynpray: Question for you. I know there is a difference in the AF focus points on the D600/D610 and the D7100. But was not aware of a difference between the 51 focus points on the D7100 and the D800. Can you expand on that point to help educate me. I have a gap in my camera knowledge. :))

re D7100 vs D800 AF.. I think physically its the same modules the difference I think is the lense elements in front of the Autofocus module may make it look smaller (less zoomed) image

@Photobug: I meant simply not grouped in the centre of the viewfinder. If the D600/10 used the D7000 AF, then I didn't want the D750 to use the D7100 AF (more points but still grouped too tight).

Huh? Where does it say 6.5 fps?

Look at the post in regards to the 20mm 1.8G prime coming out. It's in there. 6.5fps would be a buzz kill for me. I mean, not that 6.5fps is bad, it's just that if you go after the "action" camera group, 6.5fps really isn't going to cut it or make it feel like a true action camera. Heck, the new Canon 7D is rumored (highly likely) to shoot 10fps+ This body needs to shoot 8fps as originally rumored or I think we're going to have some disappointed fans out there; myself included.

Yeah, that post asks a number of questions. If it is indeed 6.5fps it's not a significantly different spec to be a new model. More like a D610 replacement that happens to have the flippy screen. I have a bad feeling this will be overpriced.

I don't think I've ever legitimately shot more than one frame per second (lakes and beaches tend to not move very quickly) but even I felt a little bit of disappointment on seeing that new 6.5 fps rumor. It's not a dealbreaker for me, but it's a bit like hearing the new car you had your eye on is only going to have one turbocharger instead of two... heh.

I did not realize the D7100 was that tightly grouped. I know its spread out further than the D600/D610 which I can not handle.

@Kenadams - JonMcGuffin is right, it's in the post for the 20mm prime lens. That is a big issue with me if it's 6.5fps. I really could use 8fps as posted in the last rumor on the D750.

@JonMcCuffin - +1 on your comment about 6.5fps not cutting it for an action camera. What a disappointment if that is true.

I have a feeling the next 9 days are going to be a long wait for the D750 announcement. :((

@Photobug; The D7100 AF isn't tightly grouped (when it's fitted to the D7100), and the D7000's AF isn't tightly grouped on a D7000 either (when it's fitted to the D7000) but when they are fitted to an FX body they are too tightly grouped.

    I have the same opinion.
8 fps in FX mode is great but 6.5 fps is disappointed.
The boost to 8 with grip is not a solution for my pratice, sometimes I need 8fps without grip in some particular conditions.
And I hope for 9 fps in DX mode ... to replace à missing D400 ...

It seems to be or to stay a dream ...

snp, that's why there's a CAM 3500FX and a 3500DX... the 7xxx uses the DX variant. If the decision is for the 51pt system instead of the cheapo 39pt like in the D610, then there's certainly no reason, monetary or logical, to use the DX variant. This would then be the first camera to use that setup.

Not sure, what the big deal is on the fps, most of all for those of you who stated themselves not to go beyond 1fps in personal shooting style. There's a difference between 5fps and 10 fps, or between 3 and 5, but 6.5 and 8? Not so much. How about we wait and see...
