Got my D750 last week with the 24-120 f/4. Must say I love it! I was one of the people holding out for a
D400 so this is a big step forward from the D300! One of my big reasons for holding out and not getting a D7100 or D610 was the Ergonomics, both of these and the other prosumer camera didn't fit my hands. Thought you had to have a pro body for a good grip D300/D700/D810. But Nikon got it right with the D750! the deep grip on the small body works well. Everything else is so much better than the D300, I have no complaints. I still wish I had that Pro bodied DX camera but I could wait any longer.

Just for clarity - the D750 is a pro camera according to Nikon. I wish it had the D300/700/800 controls too though.

Disagree @Spraynpray...Nikon classifies the D750 as a "Enthusiast camera" not a Pro camera. See the link:

I have to say I was surprised when I saw it but for sure in the UK Nikon lists it as one of the cameras that qualify for Professional membership. That is a strange list though as it includes the 24-120 f4 VR but not the 70-200 f4 VR.

I am dead keen to use a D750 to judge the 'advance' of low light noise over the D7100 because I personally feel that the biggest contribution to the noise improvement of my D7100 over my D7000 has probably been effected more by software algorithms that by improvements in the sensitivity of the sensor itself. I say that because when I pixel-peep, there is a difference best described as the D7100's images are 'smoother' close to pixel level.

That is why I am thinking that my D610 Raw may be worth checking out to see any new (nikon?) software I can use on it to generate similar IQ to the D750. The DXO rating makes them almost exactly the same. so whatever high ISO performance people say they get from the D750 should be accessible to me somehow.. I just don't know how yet. Any idea how I can test ?

Yes Hearty, I would really like to have bought the D610, in fact if I did not need the superb low-light AF of the D750, I'd go for it. The small AF sensor field is also a problem, but not insurmountable really. In fact, I'd also like to compare the outer AF points of the D610 to those of the D750 to see if there is a real world improvement there.

Going back to your point, I don't think there is a better way to test cameras than by using them in low light. Take yourself to an old church with tiny windows high up the walls and filled with stained glass, turn on the one 50 watt bulb high above the alter then try to photograph somebody wearing a white dress standing next to somebody else in a black suit, both of whom are swaying around quite a lot(!). Then publish those shots here :D

@spraynpray - agree, that is strange that it includes the 24-120 F4 but not the 70-200 F4.

I went to a photo event today at the local camera dealer and talked to the Nikon representative for some time. Here are some interesting comments he shared with me:
    1. The D750 sales were less than expected for the first 2 weeks.
    2. Now the D750 sales are running at forecast and the factory is now keeping up with sales with sales increasing the the past two weeks.
    3. They expect the D750 sales to continue to increase.
    4. D810 sales are running higher than the D750 and they did not expect that to happen. Causing spot back orders in some parts of the USA.

After looking at several lens and the D810 with battery grip I brought up these comments:
    1. Missing AF On button next to AE/EL button. He agreed there is room for the AF On button and it would be useful for many shooters. He is going to add this to the sheet for future improvements.
    2. The 300mm F4 is LONG overdue for an upgrade and the replacement will add VR. He was vague when I asked when.
    3. Concurs there will be updates to some of the DX lens.
    4. We discussed the Canon 7D MKII. He pointed out the lack of IQ improvements from the 7D has survived many reviewers.
    5. He did not see a Nikon Pro body DX DSLR in the future.
    6. Felt there would be improvements to the 7100 to counter the 7D MKII. We agreed there would be nothing close to the 10 fps speed but the price will be considerably less than the 7D MKII.
    7. Agreed that Nikon needs to improve the collars on the 300 F4 and 80-400mm lens.
    8. He stated that most Nikon salesmen feel there will be a new body to fill the price point between the D7100 and D610. Not sure if it will be a DX or FX DSLR body.
    9. D3200 and D5200 would be phased out after the first of the year.
    10. Admitted there were quality issues with the D600 and D800.

I was there for 2 hours talking to the Tamron, Sony, and Nikon representatives. During that time frame they sold 3 D750's with different lens. They also sold a D810 and a D7100. Lots of smiles.

The Tamron representative said that the Nikon 150-600mm tele lens would be off back order by January 1. Tamron continues to ignore prime lens while Sigma continues to release excellent lens, especially the ART series.

Had a great time looking at Nikon primes and zooms. My NAS is running high. LoL. :-SS

Hi guys I thought I would give a quick update on how I am going with my D750.
Last weekend I shot a large dance school's end of year concerts with 6 unique concerts over 3 days.
I shot different parts with all 3 cameras I had available to me. I had my D750 which was my main camera and shot 80% of the performances shots with a Nikon 70-200 F2.8 and some studio shots on the first day. A D3 which was going to be the studio camera until I realized that the sensor was fairly dirty and after a few blows on it they could not all be removed so it became my backup performance camera with a 50mm 1.8 on it (the spots did not show in the dark wide images). Lastly I had my D7100 which after the first day became my studio camera but was going to be the backup performance one until I saw how dark the room was and noisy the images were.

Of all 3 cameras my new D750 was a standout and I do not believe I could have taken the shots I did during the performance (at least as cleanly) without it. I am still working on processing all of the 7000 images from the weekend but looking at them I did not miss focus during the performances many times with the 750 but I did a lot with the D3. Also the 750 managed to get the exposure right or close a lot of the time even with lights pointing strait into the lens. And the color still seems to remain true to life even with shots take up to H1. The D3 on the other hand was very washed out at 6400 but I had to keep it on that due the the lack of light.
As for the studio photos I chose to do the majority of them with my 7100 over the 750 mostly as a it is a very nice camera in good lighting and the AF coverage was more freeing and should have given sharper images.

I would link pictures but as the majority of the participants were under 18 I am not going to.

December issue of Popular Photography tested the D750. The noise levels are so low. Here is the summary results:
    Image quality: Excellent, ISO 50-3200
    Resolution: 2875 - excellent
    Color accuracy - Excellent 6.7
    Noise at ISO
Extremely low 0.6 at 50 ISO
Extremely low 0.7 at 100 ISO
Extremely low 0.7 at 200 ISO
Extremely low 0.8 at 400 ISO
Extremely low 1.1 at 800 ISO
    Low 1.6 at 1600 ISO
    Low 1.9 at 3200 ISO
    Moderately low 2.1 at 6400
    Moderately low 2.1 12800 ISO
Moderately low 2.3 at 25600 ISO
    Moderately 2.4 at 51200 ISO

    Highlight/shadow detail - extremely high
    Contrast - very high
    AF speed at was fast

Burst rate - JPEG fine up to 87 shots at 6.5 fps
Burst rate - RAW 14-bit losslessly compressed up to 15 shots at 6.5 fps
Burst rate - RAW+JPEG up to 10 shots at 6.5 fps

The Canon 5D Mark III turned in 2750 lines at the same setting. The D750 has 3MP more than the Canon, so no surprised Nikon D750 won.

The D750 kept noise to a low or better rating from ISO 50- ISO 3200. While the 5D Mark III maintain a Low or better rating up to ISO 12,800. But the D750 never went into Unacceptable territory in their testing ratings. The 5D Mark II got Unacceptable ratings at both ISO 51200 and it's top setting of ISO 104,200. From ISO 1600 to ISO 12800 the Canon beats the Nikon on noise. At all other sensitivity settings the Nikon edges out Canon.

Regarding the D610, they recommend paying the extra $500 because of the Wi-Fi, lower noise, faster bursts, deeper buffer, more extensive weather sealing, and more robust AF system.

If you thinking of buying the D750, it's worth reading the article.

I've got to stop visiting this site. I went to a seminar yesterday, a dealer was there, I handled a D750, shot it at 12800 and bought it. Just packaged up the D7000 to leave me with the D750 and D7100. Nice pairing.

I have decided to ignore the D750 :-) .. Hoping the "advances" are in the D7200. I am still a DX shooter at heart. Have had a fling with FX with my D610 and its great and all. but For my target subjects and style. DX is just fine..

With all these favourable reviews I'm thinking again about replacing my D700 with the D750. I know they aren't the same camera type (control wise), but it will be nice to use two cameras with the same battery type again.
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.

Thanks @Golf. The ball is rolling and sales of the D750 look good. I am not surprised that spraynpray bought one and PB-PM is next. I am not that far behind now that the Popular Photography bench test results were so good.

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone have any idea/thoughts on when Lightroom 5 will be updated to include "native" support for D750 NEF/RAW files?

I know that Adobe Labs have released the RC of ACR 8.7/DNG Conv 8.7, but that's now way over a month ago and normally the official release comes about 2-3 weeks later along with an updated Lightroom version...

In another forum, there's some talk that Adobe will only include it in their Lightroom CC (i.e. "subscription") package, leaving existing Lightroom 5 "standalone" customers stranded (well, with only the DNG Converter)..

After all the great reviews of the D750 (and trying one out in a local camera shop), I've got some pretty strong GAS and would really like to get one, but am a bit put off by the thought of having to also pay for an upgrade to Lightroom for PP... :(

    Cheers,
    Baldy ;)

If Adobe do leave us LR5 owners out in the cold for the Lightroom D750 upgrade being only for the CC version, they will be proving a lot of people right who foresaw that move coming when the whole CC plot started.

Now is the time to pull the trigger on the D750. According to the latest post on the main blog they have finally added some nice FX lens to the instant rebates. The new rebate program expires November 22nd. It's about time they added the 70-200 F2.8, 16-35 2.8, 24-70 2.8 and more good FX lens. I also noted that B&H slipped the Sigma 50mm on the accessory tab...no rebate of course.
