No idea what Santa is bringing me for Christmas, but I just placed an order at B&H for my birthday. I purchased these items today:
    Nikon D750
    Nikon 24-70mm F2.8
SanDisk 32GB SDHC memory card Extreme Pro (94BPS)
Vello LCD Screen Protector, Ultra, GSPU-ND800

As soon as I sell my 17-55mm there are a few other accessories to add to my FX system; RRS "L" bracket, BR strap, MB-D16 Battery Pack, and a spare battery. My Credit Card took a big dent today. :((

Don't know if the firmware is buggy, but we have a clear night tomorrow so I'm off to try the D750 for night shots. I was programming U1 with manual mode; 13s/f2.8/ISO12800/3030K/AFS and it took three attempts to get it to 'stick'. I snatched up the D7100 and snapped in the same set-up first time with no problem.

Anybody else noticed anything funny about saving user settings?

@spraynpray - man that is weird. It almost sounds like the "save" feature is not working.

Yeah. I got it there after three tries, but had trouble getting the white balance to 'stick' the first couple of times.

Talking about the main blog, whats with the internal reflections in the D750 ? looks like light is reflecting off the focussing sensor housing. Hope nikon can manage it better than the D600.

"The upcoming Nikon full frame DSLR will be marketed as an “action” camera"
This was stated back in August prior to the D750 release.
    What I see now is
    "D750 - I am - The multi artist"
Has anyone seen the D750 marketed as an action camera?
Have there been other sort of campaign headlines?
    D300, J1
    Sigma 70-200/2.8, 105/2.8
    Nikon 50/1.4G, 18-200, 80-400G

    Hi Guys,
I know a few of you guys already have D750s, aare any of you experiencing this "internal reflection" problem?
Is it a really big problem?

I've just ordered one, but as it's not yet shipped, I'm wondering if I should cancel the order and wait for a fix from Nikon (if it's a big problem) ;)
However, if it's a rare problem, I'll leave the order and check it out when the camera arrives?

    Cheers,
    Baldy ;)

I have no idea what this 'problem' is. I have not experienced any problems with the D750 other than my own stupidity.

It was posted on the main blog (I can't seem to find it anymore, though :) ) and some folks over at DPReview have discussed it a bit, some hailing it as Nikon's latest QC problem (as per D600 Sensor, D810 Long exposure bad pixels)..

To be honest, the pictures do look kind of bad (a dark rectangular shadow at the top of the flare from the backlight), but we have no idea how any other camera would have performed in those exact circumstances..
lens flare can be pretty awful on my D7100, too
With the video that was posted on youtube, I am struggling to see any problem...

Probably nothing to worry about, really.. :D

    Cheers,
    Baldy ;)

From what I have seen it may not be lense flare. as I said before it looks to me like reflection off the metering mechanism/housing/submirror. The testers say in the same condition, same lense the D600 does not show the "flare". Would be interested in our members doing some tests..

This is the first D750 grey market deal I have seen:
    http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/NK1543I.htm?utm_source=email&utm_medium=D750&utm_campaign=Promo

    Ritz Camera
D750 body + soft case + SanDisk 16GB memory card.
Import with 1 year non Nikon warranty
    $1,846.95

    This is my CYA note:
Edited to add this note: Years ago Ritz Camera was good, but they have filed for bankruptcy twice. Therefore, I urge caution if your considering this deal. You may want to check eBay prices first.

About that horizontal light leak or flare on the D750, someone has replicated it using an NEX5 too..

And the same guy, did it also on his D810 and didn't see any.

Regarding the flare/internal reflection/light leak problem, I found this image on imaging-resource.com in their review of the D750 As the review itself is more of a "first look" type review, they don't mention the problem, but the review does have this pretty clear photo looking inside the camera..
    http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d750/ZPR-NIKON-D750-FRONT.JPG
Looking at the picture there is what appears to be a dark shadow along the bottom edge of the mirror, which if it reaches the edge of the sensor when the mirror is up, would explain the horizontal line/shadow at the top of the problem pictures/videos...

I checked out a couple of imaging-resource.com's other Nikon camera reviews to see if they had similar images and sure enough they do, so here's a couple for comparison...
With the D610, the angle of the light source looks the same as the D750 image, and the dark shadow along the bottom edge of the mirror is still there , although much narrower than that on the D750, so it's probable that it would miss the sensor, with the D810 picture I can't see the shadow at all, but I'm not sure the light source is the same angle...

    http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d610/Z-nikon-d610-front.JPG

    http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d810/Z-nikonD810-Front_noLens.JPG

Here's the link to the full imaging-resource review (they have also a 2 part "shooting review" online now)....
    http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d750/nikon-d750A.HTM

What do you guys think could be causing the shadow?

    Cheers,
    Baldy ;)

Thanks for presenting this research. But, I dont think it is correct. what you you are describing is in the reflection off the mirror. What you see is the viewfinder screen in the mirror and the reflection of the mounting hole off the viewfinder screen. so its not it.

However your images also show the gap of the hole for the light to pass through the mount to the sensor! it looks like the gap is much smaller for the D750 compared to the D610 or the D810. its like a smaller lense hood. it also looks much more forward compared to the D810. I think you have found the reason for the "horizontal line shadow". Looks like there is nothing to fix. its just the flare off some lenses are being blocked out by this "internal lense hood".

I would check the reflective material in front of this "lense hood" to see if it is the cause but I dont think it is. Its just a flaring lense.

@heartyfisher: Yeah, I know there's a reflection of the viewfinder screen, but I still think there's a thin dark shadow along the bottom of the mirror (which is a lot thinner in the D610 photo and not there at all in the D810 photo).. In my opinion that's coming from the light entering through the lens mount..
I agree there's not really anything to fix, just we need an awareness that with some lenses there could be some nasty looking lens flare (something we need to consider when shooting backlit shots with this camera :) )
I did also find somewhere a couple of pics taken with a leica M240 which showed exactly the same kind of horizontal edge to the lens flare in the picture (http://diglloyd.com/blog/2013/20130422_1-LeicaM240-50f2AA-flare.html)
I should say, it's not stopping me getting one (have already ordered one and am waiting for its delivery).. :D

    Cheers,
    Baldy ;)
