Anyone have a recommendation for a small, light bag for a D800 with a short lens? I am thinking my 50mm 1.8G or 24mm 2.8D. I'd like a very small, light bag to just carry the camera when I am out hiking.
Part of this is to make a portable setup for my D800E so I use it more, rather than buying a G1x or an RX100.
I use their pack packs which in addition to my D800 also carry a jacket, water, and some food etc
I also use these for extra protection:
The most important thing is that It all depends on the images you want to create and which focal length fits your vision. Picking a lens on it physical size only is kind of like picking a car based on it's tire size - it doesn't take into account what it offers.
Thanks all, I was looking at the Lowepro Toploaders and it seems that the smallest one that the D800 will fit in is the Pro 65 AW = http://store.lowepro.com/toploading/toploader-pro-65-aw
I was hoping for something smaller and lighter.
A neoprene wrap might do it, but then I'd have to figure out a different strap I think, but still that might be a good option, thanks Ironheart!
TaoTeJared, I already have those lenses. I am just looking for the smallest bag that would fit a Nikon D800 with a stubby prime like my 50mm or 24mm. Thanks.
I think I might go for the Toploader Pro 65 AW, that will fit my D800 and any of my primes and even up to my 24-120mm f/4 zoom.
I bought the Lowepro Toploader 65 AW
Which seems pretty good, but it might be a bit heavy for its size. The case is square, which is a bit odd, I'd rather it be a bit more rectangular to fit the camera body.
I later found the Ape Case ACPRO 650
Which might be a good option as well.
Anyone tried the Ape Case? If it is better, I could return the Lowepro.
With the D600 and 50mm f/1.8 on it for daily use.
