Now I will have to learn the new tricks Lightroom CC offers.
I think LR CC is very fast. I import RAWs, and the previews are generated instantly. OK, I am on a Mac Pro, 6-core, 64GB RAM, but the files are on my NAS, and hence it shouldn't be fast in the first place.

I am just about to sign up for CC What do people recommend for learning the ins and outs
I have the basics of LR and PS but am a bit out of date, with the bells and whistles
Lots of new ways of doing things, all you need is time! http://tv.adobe.com
I am getting the beachball constantly on my Late-2013 13" MBP Retina | 8GB RAM | 256GB SSD | OS X 10.10.3.
I've tried both with and without graphics accelerator turned on. I've optimzed the catalog, too.
Not sure what else to do.
The only thing that is "slow" is importing hundreds of RAW images (taken by my D800 and D810. I "added" 703 RAW images yesterday (all with reference and standard previews). The originals were stored on a ReadyNAS share (via AFP). It took some 6-7 minutes, including creation of previews.
This is significantly faster than with LR5, and in LR5 I have had a problem with the previews getting scrambled, and I haven't really been using it.
looks like it might be you
