Nikon F 300 2.8 sale

I tried one once, a friend had rented it and let me take a couple headshots of bobcats that laid down near us, and it was so sharp it made my shot with 70-200 f2.8E look blurry in comparison! I could use one for sure, but I don't NEED one and I don't really have the money. But it almost seems too good to pass up (and with the increasing decline of F mount gear, it's now or never for a new one). Why do they have to tempt us like this?

When they said clearance, they weren't kidding. It has now been completely removed from the site (as in you cannot even find a listing).

I suspected the f mount catalog might vanish pretty quickly if the Z hardware took off. Even so I have to say the speed at which it seems to be happening is a little breathtaking.
