Hasselblad have reduced the cost of their most popular model by 37%, Is this a sign that they are worried about 35mm DSLRs competition. If you own a HD5 don't think you will be impressed by the loyality of Hasselblad. Wonder if Phase One will follow?

    Hi all,

@NSXTypeR - You could just get a used Sony Nex-7 now for around $600, a tenth of a Lunar.

Of course, a D610 goes for half of Df, and the Df is apparently selling strong.

    My best,

    Mike

I think it has more to do with the new Pentax 645z releasing next month.

Coincidentally the Hasselblad discount is until the end of June. Looking at their website, it's just the H5D-40 model.

    B&H
    645z: $8500

I think my sarcasm went right over your head. :D

You'd ought to be loony to buy a Lunar at around $6,000 when it's just a NEX-7.

Leicas are expensive, but at least the high end stuff they don't exactly share with any other company. Well, the low end stuff is just Panasonics with new firmware.

They are not worried. If people use Hassys they have enough dough to own 35mm also. Hassy lenses each cost the same as a D800. The argument of a "choice" between FX vs MedFmt quite frankly stems from people needing reassurance their current FX gear is good enough. A Corvette is good enough for most all and out performs most super cars but there will always be people who buy Ferraris.

Outside of that, It's one of their oldest and smallest MP models still in the lineup - probably just dumping inventory. I think Wesley has it correct, with the Pentax coming out, they may want to create a "this or that" choice. Even at that, the price difference will probably be the equivalent cost of a D800.
    D800, D300, D50(ir converted), FujiX100, Canon G11, Olympus TG2. Nikon lenses - 24mm 2.8, 35mm 1.8, (5 in all)50mm, 60mm, 85mm 1.8, 105vr, 105 f2.5, 180mm 2.8, 70-200vr1, 24-120vr f4. Tokina 12-24mm, 16-28mm, 28-70mm (angenieux design), 300mm f2.8. Sigma 15mm fisheye. Voigtlander R2 (olive) & R2a, Voigt 35mm 2.5, Zeiss 50mm f/2, Leica 90mm f/4. I know I missed something...

Interesting, I wonder how much of an epic failure the Lunar was to the company. Healthy competition from the Leica S line, Mamiya, Pantax, and Phase One have influenced this as well I am sure. Also the D800 to a certain extent as well.
