edit 37...: I press the insert image and paste this "http://www.flickr.com/photos/incitephotography/8304178181/". It just isn't working....

Just use the insert image button in the commenting tools. When you do, just put in the url, no UBB code or anything fancy like that.

I do wish clicking on the photos would take you to the source. Hopefully the Admin can customize the photo posting options.

The new forum also has the option to upload images directly to my server. Not sure how it works yet, have to do some testing.

Over in the Test thread I did upload a photo to the forum and linked to an external photo (flickr), you can see the differences: http://forum.nikonrumors.com/discussion/6/testing#Item_29

An uploaded photo is not displayed in full size, while an external photo is.

I think the forum auto-resize the images when they are too big. You can click to get a larger view. Nice!

I trued uploading the original sized image and it slows down performance A LOT! I just wanted to see how it would be handled. Definitely going to stick to the 800 on the long side.

Hmm... Uploaded from my hard drive and you get a really small thumbnail... Have to click on it to get full size image.

Yes, this is if you upload a photo directly to the forum. Otherwise you can still add a link to an external image. Let me check why images are not directly linked to the source,

I just enabled that feature few minutes ago - now there is an "Attach a file" link under the comment box. Try it.

I cannot figure out how to do the direct link and that is why I posted a separate link to a large image.  Many photos on PAD have been posted from other sites which do not have a direct link.

The reason why there is no direct link is because the image is being displayed in full res after you click on it. If you right click on the image and open in new tab/window, it will open in its original location (flickr). I am not sure if I can change that. Do you get flickr "views" if the image is being displayed that way?

How to Post Photo on Photo-A-Day

In the new post....

First press the <> icon next to the printer Icon

Then add your script

And finally paste a copy of the 640 pixel size HTML code from Flickr into you comment.

You should end up with a photo which has a direct link to Flickr.
