Slow action. Look at that dirty sensor. Strip mining phosphate in FL. Taken with a Canon 1D MII long ago. I served my time working around one of those in the early 70's in rain and freezing cold. The only time they stop digging is for one 8 hour shift a week for maintenance and during extreme lightning storms.

    .....und tschüss

Showed on previous days the heron landing and in the water. Now, in order to complete the holy-heron-trinity, I am posting one at take-off.
I promise not to bother you anymore with heron pics for the rest of the month.

What they use on the dragline to strip mine with. This used to be a big bucket. A full size pickup fits inside. It is about half the size of what are being used now.

PitchBlack. Wow another outstanding photo. Great composition and lighting. I checked out the larger image and when you zoom in the framing is right on. She has great eyes and hair...but more important great job in capturing the image. All your shots are making me think about about putting the 85mm prime in my bag of tools.

May be one of the last snowy scenes I encounter this long winter season.
