Using Color Efex I dropped two filters on here: a slightly orange graduated filter for the sky and a reverse graduated ND to lighten the fore ground.

OK, so I realize there is nothing remarkable about this picture. This was taken on Sunday's outing on our walk back home and we stopped off for a beer. I usually get either the item in focus or the background in focus, but I I wanted both in focus and I was able to get it right the first time.

Thank you squamish! I plan on getting a 24-70 sometime when I save up the money, but I'm definitely happy with the results of the kit lens. And Lots and lots of good images here! Some car trails for you folks.

@psychobunny It's the Big Island on the southwest side of the island. Inside Volcano's National Park if you drive past Kīlauea and the lava flows about 20 miles to the coast. You have to park and walk a mile to the roads end.

One more composite...need more willing "models."

This composite was created with a slight "Hunger Games" theme in mind. My initial thought was to shoot the background in the woods but lately we've been having some foggy mornings so I took advantage of that. The background is actually in my neighborhood. The boken was a gift from my Aikido Sensei after achieving Shodan Black Belt. Birds of prey were an afterthought but I love the effect.
