November 5th - I arrived at Springer Mountain with Roosta (top right), and was joined by Pancakes (bottom right) and Rainbow Braid (bottom left). The four of us 2013 hikers, all who started on March 2nd and 3rd, returned to the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. I brought my tripod with me for some group photos, but forgot the quick release plate, so I had to get creative. I think my camera was balanced on top of a low, broken tree trunk to take this photo.
Zion Nation Park -- Upper Falls -- 2 to 3 hrs hike- Most people just look at the pond and play in the water. I pointed my D800 up for a different view of the Upper Falls. You were in a bowl, surrounded by these very high cliffs. Love the view, your are very small when it comes to mother nature. Make sure to check out the large view, its worth it.

A tiger heron shot in the Gulf of Panama. D800 | 300mm + TC14 | f/4 | 1/6400s | ISO 1000 Although it's probably not best practices to shoot a stationary bird at such a high ISO and wide open, I needed the fast shutter speed because I was in a zodiac bobbing in open water.
Oftentimes as I'm walking around or doing a photo session, something unique sort of develops right before my eyes. I used to just glance and move on, but lately I've begun to stop and take a photo of the image. This reflection of the model is off of the front doors of an upscale boutique. I actually wanted to focus on the model here but just as I aimed the camera an employee walked up behind me asking to get by so that she could open the shop for the morning. I snapped what I could and let her by. D800; Nikon 70-200mm VR2 @ f/2.8; 1/40; ISO 400
Jacksonville Zoo, Florida. The new Tiger exhibit. He is thinking how tasty I look. I was chaperoning my son's field trip and I bumped my ISO wheel with out noticing. I had to leave the camera on "P" so I could keep up with six kids! Its a bit noisy image. Larger D7000+N18-200VRII @ 200mm | f6.3 | 1/2500 | ISO 1600| CPL
This is something I just had to take a picture of. I had just hiked about a mile up this steep canyon, on a very narrow path. We were all very tired and out of breath at about 6,000 ft altitude, with an additional 1,000 ft to go and what did I see.... A baby Stroller in the middle of no where--there is no way this was useful at all. Someone packed this all the way up the mountain... 1,000 ft to go and they left it... go figure...
