November 8 - Parted ways with my other 2013 hikers and the trail angel Fresh Ground and drove from Georgia to Pennsylvania for the dance retreat my home dance puts on near Stroudsburg. Once I was almost there stopped to hike from Fox Gap to Wind Gap. Not a scenic section, like most of Pennsylvania, but another section complete.

Mine today. A 15-shot stack. I left the far reaches of the flower out of focus to create a little depth, as one of you suggested some of my earlier attempts were a little "flat." Still a work in progress for sure. D800 | 105mm | f/11 | 1/60s | ISO 100
Many may think I have lost my mind, but I assure you that went long ago. Here is a photo of Mars…. and the explanation.
Mars on a night with marginal viewing. This is about 57,000,000 miles from Earth. Photo taken from Three College Observatory using a D4 hung on the end of a Cassegrain reflecting telescope with a mirror diameter of 0.81 meters. Effectively this is an f/13.5 lens with a focal length of 10,940 mm. More information: http://physics.uncg.edu/tco/telescopeIntro.html
This was a dinner I shared with my family not too long ago.
I'm a little disappointed Google Drive did not upload the full quality image (it was taken on my dad's Nexus 5), but I'm still pleasantly surprised at how good the fake bokeh effect looks.

You sure you don't just need to clean your sensor Tommie? )
From a recent portrait project requested (and paid for) by a young Palm Beacher. Location: Worth Avenue and A1A, Palm Beach, Florida. D800; Nikon 70-200mm VR2, @ 122mm ; f/6.3 ; 1/400 ; ISO 100 (with 3 stop ND filter)
Arizona has Sun sets that are unbelievable. You might think this has had a lot of post processing, but it has not. Very little. This is truly how it looked out my front door.

Driving around the South Island of New Zealand - over 1000km on the clock so far, well over that number of photos taken - even just today. Struck in awe of the beauty of the valleys along the Milford Road, and Milford Sound itself:
