This is the only time on the trip where I wished I had my 14-24 zoom. I would have tried it in portrait format.
I will be going to China next week where I expect to be taking more architectural and indoor shots and few landscapes. I will bring the 14-24 on that trip and leave the 20mm at home.
Were on vacation in tenerife, canary islands this year. Shot this photograph on mount Teide:
Nikon D7100, AF-S DX Nikkor 16–85 mm 1:3,5–5,6G ED VR, AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm 1:1,8G, Tokina ATX 12-24mm 1:4 Pro DX II, Tamron AF 70-300mm 4-5.6 Di SP VC USD, Nissin DI 866 Mark II
Sorry for not posting in awhile - been a bit lazy and have not really taken anything much new... But went on another small safari yesterday and saw this crazy sight where this fisherman was fishing at high tide and getting attacked by these massive waves. I really liked the shot it gave, giving the sense of the awesome power of the waves.
I Just joined the group and I hope I'm posting correctly. Image taken at The Great Reno Balloon Race. D800, 80-200mm f2.8 zoom, @130mm, ISO 400, f6.3, 1/1600, circular polarizer. (Minor adjustments and spot removal in Lightroom 5.)
@ HipShot, yes, a ND filter would have allowed you to leave the shutter open longer in manual mode thus allowing you to possibly capture more than one strike in the same frame. That's the trick that many lightening photographers use to make it appear that they captured a whole barrage of strikes in one frame. (or layering photos in post and masking out all but one environmental scene). I like your photo, orientation, and exposure. It's clean and sharp.
Thank you for the helpful information and the encouraging feedback, @Rx4Photo. I believe I will obtain the B&W B+W 77mm ND Neutral Density 3.0-1 000X MRC 110M Lens Filter - B&W 66-1066186.

My second attempt (once per year it would seem) at star photography. I still need to work on it a lot, though.
