Well, that was what the service manager told me. Just checked live view or movie mode. I do see a bit of a shape - when using D810. And no shape when using D750. hmmm.
I just received my camera back in a little over 2 weeks; the same repairs as others have mentioned but flawlessly done, I can't tell the repaired camera from my other that has yet to be returned (except that its cleaner!).
I am one of those who did not experience the flare issue with my D750, however my serial number came up as needing the repair. I shipped it to Melville, NY and Nikon confirmed that they received it yesterday. I will update when I get it back and comment on my experience with the repair.
I just got my camera back.... it left it at Nikon office here in Panama on February 29th at noon... and it arrived yesterday afternoon.... so it was exactly 2 weeks.... taking in consideration that it was send out to US and then return to Panama (Central America), the time frame was really good....
Sadly i didn't receive any report of the repair, but i don't see anything weird... just like a some kind of a black tape around the hole were the sensor is.... also, it seems that the position of the sensor was lowered like 0.5 millimeter.. even that I couldn't get the flare error show up, it seems that they still worked/fixed the camera...
i am happy.... the only thing that I didn't like is that it was sent with a count of 7280 and returned with 7363.... so, they took 83 pictures!
I dont think they took it for a "joyride" in fact I am impressed. It seems that they were thorough.

I received my D750 yesterday and I am completely thrilled with many aspects of this camera. However.......my 80-200 2.8 af-s will not auto focus on the D750. It worked for a min and stopped. The lens works fine on my D700 and D3100. I am wondering if this will be something that can be fixed with a firmware update or if I will have to send it in.
For those who had to ship their camera in, or just those who have dealt with Nikon service before. How long after they receive the package does it normally take to be put in their system and receive the conformation email?
That answer varies hugely from country to country, repair centre to repair centre and with time of year (workload). Roughly 2-5 days I would say would cover it.

I would check the contacts first.. wipe the down with a clean cloth. and re mount.. other wise send both in to nikon for checking.

reading from post to post.... like 48-72 hours.... In my case, as it was an special situation outside US, I see that the the turn around time was pretty fast....
Hello all. Received my D750 back from Melville, NY Today. They had received it back on Feb. 10. Only 7 calendar days turnaround. Repairs were the same as others listed here, ie front body replacement, rubber grip replacements, general inspect and clean. No sloppiness noted with the repairs on my part, the camera body appears to be in 'like new' condition. (Which is good, because it basically was new.)
I Had not experienced the flare issue, so I cannot comment as to whether it was fixed.
Been on vacation for the last 10 days shooting almost 1,000 images. I had 5 images that showed the flair problems and will upload then when I get home. Before I left printed off the return shipping label and plan to send it back to Nikon this week.
I had checked before going on vacation and was able to duplicate the flair issue.

Yes, I did some walking to change the angle to remove the flare. Several of those on vacation were so much worse than the one I shot to see if my camera had the issue.

Update on Nikon's turn around time: Shipped my D750 to Nikon Service in NY on Friday, February 27th at 12:06pm. Delivered to Melville, NY on Wednesday, March 4 at 8:09 am Email received on March 4 at 11:46 am
No mentioned in the cover letter of turn around time. The reason for service was marked: TO GWO, no charge/good will repair. In addition, I asked them to check the AF and meter system. They would have probably done so but just in case, I made the request and it was documented in the service order.

I shipped my D750 in to Nikon Austria on Monday 16th Feb, they confirmed receipt and sent me logon info the the service website (to enable tracking the repair) early morning on Wednesday 18th... I received the modified camera back yesterday (Tuesday 3rd March)..
Can't reproduce the flare problem with a LED torch as I could before sending it in, so here's hoping..

maybe too many people waited 2 months before sending it to repair as it was not ¨urgent¨....
