Playing with photoshop today. This is my attempt to composite. Used three images I had handy. I also used the Lighting Effects in CS6 to add the painterly look. It was fun and I've learned a lot through the work on this image. Also got to work on my Pen Tool skills. Sheesh! Still have a ways to go...
Taken during a recent field trip with my son at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. The sculpture is called 'Gravity' by Richard Serra.
Another from the archives. This time I am behaving and this is from the D800 with the 24 - 70. I converted to b/w snd then reduced the opacity and fill on the silver efex layer...
2 days into the trip I shot my camera and learned to appreciate iphone6 photography. I am not totally convinced, but it is a reasonable fall back possibility. Camera is now in NY for repair. Yikes.
Revisited this location I first stop at last spring, I think I like the location better at that time of year. D800 + 24-70mm F2.8G at 24mm. | Large Version
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.
Last month I went to my "local" zoo to try out how the inexpensive 150 - 500 Sigma was on the D810. I can understand that some might shudder in their sleep thinking they'd use anything like that combo, but this isn't he type of photography I normally focus on, it is 100% just for fun :-) This one I cropped just the tiniest bit - Topaz Clarity and Details have been used on the lion.
From that one I cropped almost to 100%. For my use, I couldn't be more happy, unless I had something that wasn't as heavy :-) (Hope I didn't break any rules, written or not, by posting 2)

Something different: birding on the cheap. This photo was taken with the Nikon 1 V2 I just purchased for $350 plus the Nikon Ft-1 I purchased used on e-bay for $160 plus the Nikon 70-200 f4 I purchased long ago for about $1,200. This $1,700 combination gives me an effective 189 to 540mm f4 zoom lens which is about 10% of the cost of a D810 ($3,200) plus f2.8 400mm lens ($12,000). Of course, I lose a stop of light, many megapixels and high ISO performance. I cannot print large with my cheapo combination but I think it is ok for how I will be using bird photos: viewing on a computer or posting on the internet. Since I already had the f4 70-200 all it really cost me is about $500 to turn that very good zoom into more "reach" for birding by mounting it on a Nikon 1 V2.
