I just had to go through the hoops to post this one...
Worked a photo charter organized by the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad last weekend. The money shot in the whole trip is this, where the west end of Rock Tunnel opens onto a shelf cut in the side of the Toltec Gorge. To the right is a vertical drop of about 500 feet to the Rio de Los Pinos. We had sixty riders, had to do three runbys of this scene, putting 20 people on the small viewing ledge at a time. Shot this with my Z 6 and the 24-200mm f4-6.3; it's not as resolute as the 24-70, but it lets me work in this environment without changing lenses.
Yes very nice! I'd like to do a charter at one of the western narrow gauge railroads some day. Probably do the Nevada Northern winter photo event first.
Here's another from the B&O museum in Baltimore. Shot through the window of the excursion train; visitors aren't allowed in this area.
Regarding charters, I'll put in a plug for the Friends charters on the Cumbres and Toltec. A fundraiser for the organization, and still a good deal compared to other offerings. I know the organizer, he's a rather accomplished railroad photographer and works hard to get many good runbys...
Brighten Star 50mm f0.95 lens shot at f4 with 11mm extension tube for closer focus and then image cropped to get even closer. You can see the hairs on the bee.
Red Shouldered Hawk photographed this morning with the Z8 and 180-600 zoom. Shot wide open at 600mm. ISO 5000 handheld at 1/250th second shutter speed. That "cheap" zoom is much better than you would think. I, for one, won't be spending an additional $10,000.00 for better sharpness and background bokeh. For me, this is good enough.

North American Monsoon action.
@gene_mcgill, your lightning images are great!
@ggbutcher great image. Pretty sure I rode that train back in the 60s as a preteen.
