Nikon and canon announcements in the past have almost always had the second to announce better the specs of the first. So I am happy to see that canon announce first this time around.

That was my former self. Before I woke up and smell the coffee. I'm looking forward to getting D7200 However can't a guy fantasize once in a while? or you can chalk that post as april fools joke. :)) But seriously why bring up the D9300 now? I was surprised to see the topic on the main forum when I came home late last night. Did anyone hear something?

Realistically they won't be able to charge more than ~$1,700 I would assume. Remember that the 7dm2 is $1700 at full MSRP and the street price is lower. So this new 9300 camera would have to be better spec'd AND cheaper or pretty close if it were to pull the prosumer DX crowd in.
Yes they would get some sales if it were more expensive, but Nikon should not just be shooting for another Galaxy S (whatever number they are on now) type of update or pricing it out of prosumer range. They need that WOW this is Amazing type of update to pull in users from other systems. They can still do this as the 7Dm2 update was underwhelming, but they have to choose to do so and this is the problem at the moment.

Not only are the (previous+current) pro-DX thread the largest and most long-lived threads on NR.
Now, we have TWO active pro-DX threads at the same time.
Nikon, have mercy. Build the damn thing, and let NR get on with its life.

NR's life is just what's happening in this DX threads. Probably the participants already talked D9300 and D400 to death - what else could Nikon do to face a wall of expectations? Once I saw the High ISO samples posted on DPReview I asked myself who would want this smudgy pictures?

They did not do any comparison to low ISO for the same shot (at least the DPReview post I am looking at), so it is hard to tell how much is the ISO versus crappy focus/lens issues.

There is nothing wrong with DX in general. Remember that the 810 now has roughly the DX sensor of the D7000 inside. The biggest argument for a 9300/d400 was for the buffer, which has now been dealt with supposedly with the 7200. Stupid moves like leaving out group area autofocus, not increasing the frame rate or improving the grip has left everyone wondering if Nikon is purposely crippling the 7200 to leave room for a D400 or is just being a bunch of greedy b@stards and leaving something noteworthy for the 7300 "update" coming in two years time.

Okay, I will let you off that you were sleepy. Now you woke up and smell the coffee your got your senses back. LoL Your right, a great April Fools joke.

My wife has a great "dry sense of humor" and normally she pulls an April Fools Joke on me. It has not happened as of yet...so now every time she says some things I am listening to see if she is being factual or pulling my leg with one of her well known April Fools jokes.

Good points on the "purposely crippling the 7200"
Let me reiterate it and expand it a bit (and list the assertions (and implied assertions))
    1) The D7200 is purposely crippled.
    2) The best Nikon DX camera is the D7200
    3) The D7xxx range will continue to be the DX flagship
    4) The D7200 is purposely crippled to leave room for the D7300 to grow into.
4.1) implies that the D7300 should have group area AF. will still use the 51 AF
    4.2) new af system expected soon in D820? [ D9300 !!?]
4.3) the D7300 should have higher FPS
4.4) new body structure and materials with grips from D5500 / D750
    4.5) Possibly the tilty screen.
4.6) Better Video. similar to D750/D5500

But all those 4.x features could be the D9300 (with new body)in 3-6 months instead of needing to wait 2 years for the D7300.

Re: the D7200 at low ISO.. its !!! the sensor is awesome I would say its almost twice as sharp as the D600 and handily beats the D750 (in sharpness) the FX do look slightly better with DR and colours but its definitely the best DX sensor in the Nikon range.

When I look at the Nikon 1 cameras I think that they are great but I would like them with larger sensors. My opinion is that it is a little late for Nikon to work on a new DSLR product line. Instead they should be working on larger sensor mirrorless cameras. On the other hand I often don't understand Nikon, so I guess a D9300 is likely :).

......or is just being a bunch of greedy b@stards .....
You don't have to buy Nikon products. There are plenty of other camera manufactures
I am sure some are more benevolent, charitable, generous and philanthropic than Nikon
Yes I know ,some make crap cameras but we do not live in a perfect world

I'm not sure @PitchBlack. Although I totally agree on this, a number of 3500 posts in those two threads tells a different story. And I'm not counting the moans in other threads "oh get us a D400!". Just decided, not to put anything in it.

Maybe the forum could be modified to keep it out of the top 10 - not sure that can be done. It does seem to be gobbling up the forum.

That is true its just that statements on both sides of the fence gets repeated. And in forums we have a tendency to want to correct the "error in judgement" of the other team ;-) after all their logic is so wrong ! they should just shut up and go away !

As long as every thread has a title that says what the thread is about, then how can it be a problem to some that some others want to discuss something (and keep discussing it)? It's easy to just skip the threads that you don't find interesting.
Do "we" waste our time, discussing a pro-DX? - Our problem.
Do "you" waste your time, complaining about the thread? - Your problem.
I can agree, of course, that there should be only one thread.
If you close the pro-DX thread, I'm sure we'll see more D400 posts in all the other threads, AND there'll be a new pro-DX thread soon.

Am I wasting my time, posting this? Well, I'm waiting for the Mrs. to get ready, so it's either this post, or I could go and take a picture of the cat...... No, wait, it's moving too quickly, and I don't have a D400 ....

Because most of the comments including your and this one by me, are not about the D9300. They cant be, it does not exist

The Will there Be a Professional DX Body From Nikon? question has been answered. Like this thread thread it has morphed into, My theoretical ideal Dx camera that has most of the features of a D4 for on one third the price

Any one new to NRF, is not going to read the whole thread and wonder will what we are talking about

Both threads should be closed, until there is at least a rumor on the main BLOG that thing might change

The buying guide still list the D300s but states Refresh not expected

    My public apology......LOL

About a year ago I started this thread.... what a rumor. It seems to have a life of its own...as many threads do.

But, I do want to apologize for starting this thread....albeit a couple days late.....Happy April Fools Day
