First camera was a Kodak 235. Then at the age of 17, I received a Mamiya NC1000 ^:)^. That camera changed my life! I still think it had the best meter. Then a Nikon N75 (Silver), two years later a Nikon D50. Six years went by shooting the D50 in to the ground. Picked up a D5000 early 2010. Now about to receive a D7000.

I think mine was a Kodak instant "handle"! Yes, yes I know, I did just publicly admit that.....I'll now go and stand in the corner facing the wall. :\">

Topcon Unirex. Kasimir Malevitch could have been big fan on my black on black, or white on white. Exposure was a mystery at this time for me.
Then Polaroïd + the knife for post treatment
Then Lomo : 4 eyes, 6 eyes (how I would have loved they were digital ... )
Then Canon 450D with 55-250mm (nice one, the lens) and a Peleng 8mm (= nightmare)
Then 50D, 7D (With genuine troubles inside), 5D II er ... slooooooooooow. 1Dmk III
Enters Nikon and happiness with the paradisiac D3s
    Then D4
    Then ...
    Then ...

My first camera was a Canon Rebel Ti. I only had it for 4-5 months before buying my D70.

I haven't been at this nearly as long as the rest of you. ;)

My first camera was a Agfa Memo 35ee, then a M42 mount Vivitar, then my first Nikon my Nikkormat FTN. I have a better history posted up in the introduction* thread but there is the basics of my camera history or at least getting to Nikon.

A Nikon FM in 1979. I followed that purchase up with an FG in 1983 (?) and a 8008s in 1992. My next purchase prior to going digital with a D70 in 2004 was a F100 in 2002.

Zenith, back in the late 80s which I tried to fix by myself and disassembled to parts... and I was too young back then to put it together once again :)

My first camera was an Alpa 10d, a Swiss-made 35mm film camera in 1971. It came with a very sharp 50mm f/1.8 Macro Switar lens. I added an 80-240 f/4 eventually and used it extensively until the late 80s at which point I didn't do much photography until I got my Nikon D300 in 2008.

Well, truthfully, I had a Kodak Brownie box camera of some sort when I was a child, but only took a few rolls of film with it. (It may have officially been my older brother's camera. No idea what became of it.)

I also have come to photography later than most here - after the usual consumer and disposable cameras, my first real camera was a Nikon D60 I bought at Costco in August 2008. I used that and the 18-55 kit lens for quite a while, stuck my toe in the "must buy more lenses" pool with a 35mm/1.8 DX, then a Tamron 70-300, and at that point, late 2011, I got a D5100.

In May 2012 my office was burglarized: both cameras, all my lenses, and my MacBook Pro were stolen. I was partially insured, and bought a D800E as a replacement.

(Why the D800E instead of the D800? Because the waiting list for the D800 was 90 names long, and the D800E list only had two names on it - and I got my D800E much faster than the people on the D800 list).

My first camera was a Minolta, something. "Only From The Mind of Minolta"
It died and my next camera was a Nikon N70 - Loved that camera........
Digital came and my first DSLR was a D70 - Loved that Camera - It Died
Then came a D3100 - It suffered an untimely death when my cat batted at the strap and down she went
So, it was replaced with a D5100 - While I liked both the D3100 and D5100 they just lacked things I expected
So, I sold the D5100 and waited until I could afford my current camera - D7100 - Which I really really LOVE but am still trying to master.......

My little Minolta x-700 was the first real camera I owned.
The D90 was the first digital.

I have most of the gear I owned still. Got rid of the T90 years ago and a nikon 55-200mm kit I purchased out or necessity.

My first camera happened to begin my love affair with Nikon actually. It was an F90x with a 35mm AF lens. I bought the setup used (4 years old I was told) for $800 together in 1996. My first digital camera was a Sony T7 Cyber Shot in 2005, which was dreadful. No wonder I stayed with film until 2008 ^^

Pretty cool how long you stuck with film, although every once in a while in a touristy area I still see a SLR and get surprised that there's no LCD on the back.
