birdman: I am from German genetic stock born and raised in North Dakota. My wife is from African-American genetic stock born and raised in Philadelphia but like many African-Americans there has been a lot of mixing of many things in her genetic past. When we were in Israel the locals kept telling her she looked like a Yemenite; many others have said she looks Brazilian, which is a long way from Yemen. So she has some sort of generic "brown peoples" look.
dissent: Ok. I was confused. Personally, I think the flower pedals are distracting from your subject They are not far enough from the tip of the stigma to be reduced to a pleasing bokeh. Try a wider aperture or maybe there just isn't enough distance between the two to blur the pedals enough.
@ Rschnaible.....I love that shot of Alcatraz ! How long of a lens was that made with ? It makes Alcatraz look so close to the GGB and the other side.......like it would be just a "short swim", ( which it definitely is NOT! )
@ Aaron.....That's an outstanding owl, but it's one I'm not familiar with; obviously from someplace I've never been.
@ Pierre.....Beautiful cave Pierre! The light is outstanding! It reminds me a lot of water-worn tunnel in a canyon in Zion National Park.
@ Aodwoz.....That's a very nice picture of a VERY pretty girl !
@Dredden85: Thank you...glad you like the reflections. It was not easy to setup so that the tripod, camera and myself did not show up. Spend some time getting the angle just right. Moreover, that is not a mirror to the left of the piano..that is a window! Had to work on getting the angle right as well.
@birdman. The lines are straight...you have to take in to the account the angles in which I'm taking the shot next time we go to LJ I will show the setting in person.
Here is a shot of what is to the right side of the piano. Keep in mind these shot where taken at around 11:00PM and the lighting in these rooms are very low. This is why I love the 14-24 2.8!!

Superb color Adam. This osprey was generous enough to pose while taking a drink from a small pond. I don't believe you can get much closer than this to a wild bird. This is uncropped. As an aside, when a "civilian" looks at your photos and asks if you have "a lens that zooms really far out" and you're tempted to explain this you have a prime lens which is of a fixed focal length, you know you're a photography geek. @GolfSD - Nice red colors! The chairs' colors and fabic designs stand out big-time. @Donald - I have a VERY SIMILAR picture taken with my first "real" DSLR - Canon 40D. The 28-135mm kit lens has macro abilities & captured dew on "Elephant Ears" or whatever the plants are named.
I went to a Fashion Show benefitting the Newtown, CT first responders. Gilbert Gottfried and Chevy Chase were Cohost's. I had a rough time with the lighting and wonder what others do to combat house lights.
Unbelievable captures to start the month! Great stuff everyone.
I was setting up to do some moon shots but unfortunately there wasn't a good angle from my house and didn't have time to venture out. Then I spotted the neighbors satellite dish.
