For years I have been trying to photograph the Flamingo. I never liked any until yesterday. I was trying to find some shade when I saw the shadows that the flamingo had. I'm happy with this one.

Nothing new today so I had to dig into the archives. This was my first and only attempt to do a studio silhouette. Didn't work out the way I expected but was a happy accident.
... but grain can add a nice dream feel which is sometimes a nice departure from an ultrasmooth image. Really it depends upon the look you are going for and the feel you want to convey.
I've seen this a lot in high end fashion magazines like ELLE and Vanity Fair where the close-up photos likely taken with Phase One's and Hassys have added grain. Many well known retouchers like Natalia Taffarel add this to their work as well.
I wished I'd been able to try the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 for this session.
