Inspired by donaldejose, I wanted to try a painterly effect with some night long exposures. I was fortunate to have some slow moving clouds provide a dramatic backdrop.
@pitchblack thanks for the info ill keep that in mind. Im a fan of your work and I had you in mind with this shoot especially the first photos. I dislike cropping but I thought I crop some due to people traffic and the slight distortion the 35mm gave me. One of my sisters also critiqued the poses I beleive towards the emd of the shoot both the model and I improved.
@Vipmediastar_JZ: if you want a little critique, I would say that instead of cropping, take the photo from a little closer a little more open to limit the depth of field. I would also try to get a little light on her face (you can fix that in post using several tricks, but it's added work).
As for posing, I always tell my models that the more uncomfortable they are physically, the better the pose probably is. What you are looking for is to create angles. Angles tend to be interesting while straight up and down looks a bit boring and dumpy. You could actually move your camera to the left, keep her hips in the same position and have her turn her shoulders to you. Then you can say things like "chin down," "tilt your head to the right," "look to the left," "lean forward" ... blah blah blah. Leaning forward with the back straight and one shoulder dropped would have looked nice here too. Anyway, just a few quick tips. Cheers.
Very few to add: A little light on her face and on the upper body in general will help, maybe with a CTO. Pose: If she sits on a wall it makes her look chubby, so make her stand up and turn the hip 45 degrees away from you, weight on the rear foot. Look at V. Beckham photos, she has it down pretty well. There are some decent posing videos on youtube.
Another from my first batch of photos from the Nikon V1..
