Thanks rbrylawski for the Hibiscus. It was 32 today and I hope the Winter leaves here soon
I'm sure you do want warmer weather soon. Winter has been brutal up north. Take care!

..., I get the feeling you're not happy with this shot but I would be thrilled to have captured such a beautiful picture.
Thanks, I appreciate the thought. I wouldn't say "not happy", but perhaps "not fully satisfied" fits the bill. I feel like I'm learning a lot in the process, at any rate.

Howdy folks. In case it goes unnoticed in my Appalachian Trail thread, I've been unsuccessful at finding employment in the months following my thru-hike. In my efforts to stave off boredom and depression I have continued hiking intermittently over the fall and the winter, chipping miles away from a section hike which may well turn in to a second thru-hike if I don't find employment as I continue wandering the east coast. I'll try to post photos - not all of them, mind you - starting chronologically from October 27th, when I started the first miles of my section hike a few days before I hiked the last miles of my 2013 thru-hike.

Good to hear from you again El Pick. What did you do before your AT start?
I worked 6.5 years with a civil engineering firm, specifically in geospatial information technology, starting the day after I finished high school and ending when it became a toxic dead-end job and I left for the Appalachian Trail. Thank goodness I still have some savings left over from that. Now I'm just trying to land in anything for a year so I can save up for the Pacific Crest Trail. Ideally I can start pushing into photography while I'm around for a year... especially want to put together a book / photo book from having a very strange thru-hike last year.

I've been shooting some Real Estate photos lately. I find the lighting a terrific challenge. This was taken with D800, manual mode x320, iso 800, Nikon 14-24mm @14mm, f11, two speed lights (910/900), one on camera aimed up/back into a piece of white foam core, the other on tripod with 30" shoot-through umbrella. I'm looking for other ideas if anyone has any. All comments welcome.
Self-portrait while making dinner at the Murray property, a privately-owned piece of land adjacent to the Appalachian Trail along the New Jersey - New York border. The owner thru-hiked in the 80s and keeps a cabin open for hikers just 0.2 mile off the Trail. Shelters are usually three-walled so this one with four walls and a door is a welcome change. There is well water nearby, and even working electrical outlets in the cabin!
