Location scouting proved to be quite fun thing to do, I will probably never plan everything out down to details for a shoot, but I do see the use of having some ideas where to drag light and battery pack with me, extra lenses, model and her gear etc. For this shoot here I was not near a place I often visit as it is near where my in-laws live, and even when we're there we seldom goes to this exact place, but I remembered a few details of it and thought I'd go and check it out the day before the shoot and straight away saw the potential of the rocks that I didn't remember from previous visits. So wonderful when you see a spot like this and it just ticks. In post I've made a layer of the photo into quite contrasty black and white and painted it in for the look of the rocks, I've done that a couple of times and I kind of like the effect it gives. This was my second shoot with Renate

I was shooting this egret from a pretty great distance and not loving what I was getting. However, I did love the patterns of the ripples. I found that I could process this and really bring the structure of the water out while keeping the intensity of the light on the bird. B&W isn't always something I think about when shooting wildlife, but I really like the fact that it allows you to focus on textures, which were pretty cool in this image. @proudgeek: now you are getting it buddy; hence B&W should always be on your mind...regardless of the setting or object. Case in point many of the fine images itsnotmeyouknow has shared with us.
