D800 70-200 at my friends music video production. After they were done I took pics. She is/was a model and she knew what to do and I hope I did her justice.
There are a pair of these about a mile from my house. At least I think there's a pair as I've only seen one but have heard multiple calls. Anyone want to venture what this may be? Beso thinks it's a kestrel. Another friend suggests an immature sharp-shinned hawk. D800 | 300mm + TC20 | f/5.6 | 1/1250s | ISO 1250 | -1/3 EV
Edit: I've spoken to an ornithologist (married to a co-worker). Evidently this is a merlin.
Honestly, this photo session actually started as a head shot session for business cards ... which she did print using one of my photos. She brought 4 changes of clothes and we put them all to use. This was the last and we decided to have a little more fun with it.
The Commonwealth Games start tomorrow in Glasgow. The opening ceremony being at Celtic Park Football Ground (soccer ground to our North American cousins).
Over 1 billion people, world wide, are expected to watch the games and 71 countries will be taking part. I am just hoping that the weather stays good for everyone. The opening Ceremony is due to start at 20:00hrs British Summer Time and lasts for approximately five hours. Featuring 3,000 cast members alongside 4,500 athletes from the 71 participating nations. The Queen will open the Games, reading a message contained in the baton which formed the heart of a 10-month relay across the Commonwealth.
Just think what the games might be like if the USA had stayed part of the Commonwealth. What to rejoin? :-)
Money from the tickets for the opening ceremony is going to a UNICEF charity.
Any way. Here is Clyde, the mascot for the games. You might notice that Clyde (named after the river Clyde that flows through Glasgow) is a thistle with legs and arms.
