Actually, this image comes from scanning a Plus-X negative...the original shot at ASA 80, developed in D76 1:1 for 80% of normal developing time. On a Nikon F body....built in mid 1960's. I am guessing this was taken in 1967.....

This'll probably be the last drop in from Maliya. Got lots but time to move on. During this beach session we were approached by an entire family; Mom, Dad, Granddad, Grandma, sisters, and brothers. Granddad spoke up saying they were watching us for 30 minutes and wanted to know if I was hiring assistants. Funny! Then asked if he could have ONE picture taken with Maliya - at which point all the cellphones came out and everybody got pics of granddad with her. Maliya was loving it, cracking up by then. He then asked if his two grandsons (probably age 14 or 15) could get a pic with her. I could tell these boys were in heaven by then. I got pics but won't post them for obvious reasons. It gave all of us something fun to remember.

The one I have posted today is a lot of processing in LR5.7....
I always used to shoot PX @ ASA 64 and develop in Microdol-X 1:3. It used to produce some beautiful negatives. I even shot Tech-Pan and processed in Technidol, those results were stunning but it lacked dynamic range. I shoot TX @ ASA 200 and develop in D-76 1:1 when I want a little extra grain.
That is the thing about so many of the "digital generation" who have never processed and printed film either color or black and white, they seem to have this almost irrational aversion to grain. Grain is a part of the true photographic process. Sometimes it can MAKE the image. And when it comes to black and white digital falls woefully short of a medium format negative printed on high end paper like Oriental Seagull, which is all I use. Most of the film I shoot now is on the Hasselblad. I have CZ lenses from 40mm to 250mm but I will go to 35mm when I don't have an equivalent Carl Zeiss lens. I have a Nikon Super CoolScan LS-8000 to do any scanning work I need. The thing is huge but it produces amazing scans from both 35mm and 2¼.
Hello all. Sorry for being away / radio silent, I have been studying my masters and sort of lost touch. Anywho, I am currently in Durham in England. Ill try and post during the holidays and show a bit of the town.
Anxiously awaiting my D7000, reminiscing the good times with the D50. From a wine cruise we took in 2012, a Bordeaux winery. Lots of nice light in these places...
