Went to the Canyon Light's Display here in Vancouver this past weekend. Even the D800 and 24-70mm F2.8 struggled to focus in the low light, but I like this shot anyway.
D800 + Nikon AF-S 24-70mm F2.8G at 24mm. | Large Version
If I take a good photo it's not my camera's fault.
Another shot from the Morton Arboretum light show. Hard to avoid at least some blown out highlight areas; exposures change rapidly from moment to moment. Maybe if I had a D4 ....
D7100, 16-85 @ 16mm, 1.3 sec at f/7.1, ISO 400, tripod
edit: highly envious of all the deer shots; nice work everyone!

@Scuderia1 I shot this hand held this morning, I pulled left arm in tight while i held the tripod foot in my left hand and elbow in my ribcage. It's not bad to handle with D610. Shot at 600mm @f6.3 ISO 200 overcast morning.
@Nikonsince1974 - How do you know it's a buck? I just moved to Colorado in May.. So I'm still learning the wildlife.. I said "baby" because it was with what I assumed to be mother & father, and the size was noticeably different. I'll post a picture of "daddy" tomorrow
@nitro4me Did you really shoot that squirrel at 1/15s? Thanks for the shot! If that's really shot at 1/15s handheld at 600mm.. You got some great technique! Pretty sharp as well. Did you do any post-edits?
@Scuderia1, I did shoot him at 1/15s,I cropped it and added a little definition and contrast. My technique is the same as my army training to fire a M16 rifle. The D610 &Tamorn 150-600 seems heavy compared to a sixteen with a loaded 30 round mag did 27years ago.

This was one of the first few clicks of my D800 - taken one morning on the way to work with the Nikon 24-70 and heavily cropped.

I'm not sure if the car is part of the scene or one of the team owns it.
