HI Big Island, Green Beach. The only beach known with green sand, which comes from the Olivin in the sand. In reality the sand is more gold-ish green, but a very nice, remote spot.
I was very lucky to get this shot. There was a large viewing area for the public far in the back, but a wide ledge right next to the warriors that was closed off. I walked up to a security guard and asked if I could go on the ledge. He asked, "Are you from National Geographic?" I had a bag full of lens and my D800 with the battery grip, so I must have looked like a professional. I answered, "I am not from National Geographic, but I want to be." I suppose his English was not so good because he held the door open for me. Needless to say, I knew better than to correct his English and spent half an hour on that ledge shooting every angle I could with every lens in my bag.
Went to Hot Air Balloon Fest over the weekend. I'll share a few pics. This one was taken at 1/2500 sec. at f/4, ISO-320. Had to very close and the burner puts out a lot of heat. Check out the lager view!
Only a few more in the series to go with birds. This one shot using a monopod. I need to crop out the finger. |D7100|214mm (70-200+TC17)|1/60 4.8|ISO 2500|

PS:
This was taken about a fifteen minute walk from my home, which is in Vancouver's WestEnd, thus my handle.

Taken with iPhone 6 @ 1/15 sec, f/2.2, ISO 250 using the Pure app. Processed TIFF in Lightroom 5.7.1
I might have placed a "hair light" almost directly opposite the camera on the back side so as to outline the top of Darth and the Df.
