North America's highest mountain was renamed to its traditional name "Denali" today. There are many photos of the mountain the the media right now and so often they are one of the standard views. Here is one of my non-standard favorites: I took it from Wonder Lake, about 25 or 30 miles from the mountain. The mountains in the foreground rise several thousand feet from their bases. The Wickersham Wall, shining bright above the those mountains and the clouds below, is only one-third visible in this photo. Much more of the mountain is above what is visible here. For me, this emphasizes the size, the glaciation, and the mystery of the mountain.

Capturing this photo involved a bit of risk if I must say. Had to stop along the side of the highway on an overpass with cars zooming by at 70-80 mph. I'll never do that again!! It's one of those captures that was going to bug me until I got it.

With the right subject, I love my 50mm 1.2 AIS when it is shot wide open. The poor image quality is delightful!!
