Sorry it's been a while. I have had a few assignments for clients, and shot some 7'500 photos these last three weeks...
Here is one of a National Geographic Traveler sports journalist who came to Greenland to run a race, and needed a few shots for publishing. The weather was a bit harsh that particular day, with -10 degrees and 15m/s winds, giving a wind chill factor around -22.
Mind you, I was in a tour bus being hurried from destination to destination, but I tried my best to capture the landscape of Taiwan.
The conditions were not ideal- for some odd reason, whoever washed the bus only washed half the bus, and I got the dirty half, so my window was perpetually dirty. Also, we never stopped on the way up the mountain, so I couldn't set up any shots. It was also really scary, because the whole time I smelled burning brakes. I was worried we'd run out of compressed air to brake, and worried about fade too- this is not a new bus. Whenever I got a clear shot, there was always a chance there'd be power lines everywhere.
In any case, we got out in one piece, and I got some photos I was somewhat happy with.
Alishan is known for their excellent green tea, so that's what I tried to capture here.
One thing I've learned about getting picked for Explore on Flickr is that it's never the ones I would have guessed... Last day on our vacation we were going for a long walk and I didn't think I'd need a longer lens... D810 - Sigma 50mm Art

So, what does one do while waiting to get on the big telescope?

Nasty light arena for a D810, 70-200 f4, 1/250, 200mm, ISO 12,800. 8x10 prints still saleable. IMHO a D4s would get a real test here with a 70-200 f2.8
