@IanG - Sometimes you do work on a picture over time though. The picture above is from Feb this year. Not been posted before, but I have edited a few times and not been happy with it. Now I am - but this may change again before I print it. Sometimes I don't really figure out a picture for many months, a few for well over a year (just my rather iterative way of working) and so i guess this makes them "old". I do agree that multiple postings of one image is not really in the spirit of this thread (but a number of pictures that interpret the same precise same subject differently I think is fair game).

Needed a little more depth of field. Testing the Nikon 200-500mm lens.

Finally had a chance to get the camera out and went for a walk. Found a Crow in a tree.

I have no problem with this - but frankly posting stuff from 2012 seems to stretch this rather.

With respect to another poster, if you can't be bothered to go out and make images, why bother posting? Seems to defeat the idea of the thread IMHO
Cameras, lenses and stuff. (I actually met someone once who had touched a real Leica lens cloth.)

Okay....I said earlier that I can't follow the bird theme, well I'd forgot about a couple of testers I took a couple of months back when just messing with the camera + 200-500 from the bedroom window. Weather and light were crap so result not as good as I'd like plus had to crop a lot. Anyway, here we go..

I see where you're coming from, but just because a photo is made from 2012 doesn't mean it's been exhibited before, whether it be in the Photo a Day Thread or another venue. Besides, it's the Photo a Day Thread, not the New Photo of the Day thread.

I'm fairly certain Henri Cartier Bresson and Ansel Adams hasn't taken a new photo in the last decade (unless you found an undeveloped roll of film shot by them), but it doesn't mean we don't look at their work anymore.

I think it's definitely worth looking at older photos as well as new works.

And on that point, here's something I shot not too long ago.

(NB. NSXTypeR - Good point well made sir and I'm firmly in your camp re older shots here on the PAD. As a recent new member {last Nov I think} I've posted many older images as a way of introducing who I am and what type of photography I'm into. It would take me ages to do that by just posting recent stuff. I've only ever shot a Hoar Frost once so I'd be for ever struggling with that one!)

@NSXTypeR I understand your point and there is value in reviewing older photos and apply editing or techniques that may not have been available since taking the photo. I agree with @IanG when the same photo is posted multiple times and the photo is exactly the same. I looked through the PAD over the past two years and there are several photos that have been posted as many as 7 times and they look identical. I don't see the point.
Concerning Henri Cartier Bresson and Ansel Adams you are right they are not modifying and posting edited photos. Images that Ansel Adams took in the late 20's and 30's were never modified after they were published. Ansel had 50+ years to go back and make changes to these images if he felt he could have improved on them but he did not and he left detailed instructions on how to reproduce them.
@GPDen To me recent photos give me a better idea of your shooting style than a image that is 4 or 5 years old. I was a late adopter to digital photography and my images from 5 years ago would not be very representative of my photography.
I enjoy the PAD, enjoy seeing everyone's post and for me it encourages me to shoot something every day. This may not be true for others and that is fine.

Another bit of fun with cosplay lover Nathaly. It turned out to be a collaborative effort. This is her in Star Wars mode. We actually shot this with her holding a PVC tube. Afterwards she sent the file to a graphics guy who added the light saber effect.

I've been shooting parties, fashion shows and other low light event style shoots for years now. Only in the last year have I entertained the idea of shooting in a studio. So I have collected a few lights and soft boxes and this last week I did my first session with three models. I could really get used to having control over the lighting.

Here is a shot from that session.
