Well I might be retiring the Tamron. Scored a Tokina 300 F2.8 AT-x II pretty cheap. Took it out for a quick test run this morning. I still have to play with fine tune a touch...

I love this topic because I visit places all over the world, for instance.. @ rschnaible thank you for the San Juan tour this month. @ Tommie's street life snapshots. We get a tour through the garden of Donald and Jose For me, everything on the other side of the world, just great.

Those who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it!
I had been shooting this osprey that had flown down to a small pond to drink. He let me get within about 40 feet, and I was able to get about 30 shots before he flew off. Most of them I chucked, but this one stood out upon a further review. Who knew that ospreys came equipped with UV filters? Check out the eye shield. @...rschnaible...Very nice picture of El Morro; It's probably one of the only things I can think of that still looks EXACTLY like it did when my ship was there in 1953; hasn't changed a bit; a very remarkable structure IMHO.
@...proudgeek...Great shot of very elusive birds! (If only we knew where you found them) oddly enough, a local bird photographer here in Indiana photographed a roseate spoonbill at a marsh in in N. Indiana last summer, which was only the 2nd sighting ever recorded in the state, (the first being 20 or 30yrs ago.)
@Ton, you are welcome and I am happy that you are enjoying the tour.... More to come @Gitzo, Old San Juan (El Morro, San Cristobal, the City) are truly unique.

Would have been a good candidate for flash, but I didn't bring the macro bracket with. Rats.
In hindsight, planned differently this scene could be a very evil jigsaw puzzle.
... And no time to use them.
