Would love to see some of the great photo's people are making with there Nikon Df.
Why ?? its a recreational camera right? thats what we have agreed on ? as a recreational camera then the result is really only a minor factor. its only for personal motivation. and not really for the world to see ;-)
You dont need to be a world class surfer to to get enjoyment from surfing.. on a great surfboard.

I can't say I'm too impressed with the Df. I bought one the last day of January, used it one day, and it has been in service ever since. First a minor problem, now a major problem with the light meter not working.

That sucks - Lemon Law them! Browser crashed when I was going to share a blog post from someone who just bought a D4 for christmas and it has been in the shop ever since. Been looking but can find it again. (had to clear the browser cache out.)

Pointing out that you could practically buy a D7100 for the premium you're paying is not being "juvenile and absurd." ... and speaking of "attack, insult, diminish and belittle." Pot... kettle...
Thank you. I know Im not the only tired of his lengthy and often hypocritical rants.

I've thought of it. I will not be able to use it in London next week. Since I gave away me X100s, I've no compact camera except for one of the V1s in the lab, so I'll probably take the big D800. I can honestly say the D800 is turning out to be the best money I've ever spent on a camera body, I still want my Df back, though. It was a lot of fun the one day I used it.

I agree the D800 probably is the best money I spent as well. If another system doesn't have the oomph, I always have that to go back too. I'm going to go out and shoot Sandhill cranes again this year, It will be in the bag for sure as you never know how close they will be and major cropping is always an issue. (Protected wildlife area with blinds for watchers.) I may see if I can rent a DF to take along, the first hour is usually too dark for shooting over 1/100th. Optimal settings would be 1/500th @ 2.8 @ 12,800.
At the risk being tared, feather and pillared here I have to admit I think the D600 was the best money I spent recently. It is just so good at producing images that it keeps amazing me. Of course, it has its limitations and you have to know those and use it within those limitations to enjoy it. For example, It is not good for sports or wide open portraiture other than head and shoulders or full body because the AF points are too closely grouped. Now before someone claims I am "off topic" let me say the same may be true for the Df. There are a lot of things it is not and will not good at. So if you are wanting to use it for one of those things there are better choices. But it may be the only choice for what you want in a camera for certain specific purposes.
To Donaldjose's point, it is why I would love to have a D800 on one shoulder and a DF on the other. For pure technical shooting, it will be a D800. For super low light or fun, it will be a DF.
I might wait a year though until Nikon gets all of its quality control issues worked out. Seems to be a pattern.
One of the top Australian sports photographers Delly Carr says he loves the Df and will be using it for his work. But then he is not the usual sports photographer. He stalks his images! He pre visualises his images and then sits for hours exactly in the spot to shoot from and waits for it to appear and then shoots. Of course that was before the D4s arrived :-) and he likes the D4s ;-) yeah he was one of those that got to play with a D4s before it was released...

Probably not when they are close, 10 different bodies would yield 10 different numbers. But this also may be some unusual sensor in the one D4s they tested. They should test a few more of them to confirm they all have an ISO score lower than the D4 because that is surprising.
I went to the local shop and before I left I had to play with the DF again. It felt great and felt like it was for me all along. Of course I did test shots back to back with my D800 and to nobody's surprise the DF was way better at 6400. I have decided that this is the camera I will rent as a backup for that Lord of Darkness capabilites.
After I got home I went to this thread to see what was new. It was then when my wife saw the camera and she liked it very much. She asked how much and I gave her the look with sad puppy eyes as if she would buy it for me. She said nevermind before I answered because she knew it would be too pricy. She did seem to barter selling of gear to get camera
@ heartyfisher I was really asking to see pictures from the Df to see what folks are getting from it. I am sure some are using it for wildlife. sports or whatever but would love to see more images that its producing.
