@ProudGeek Thank you! @ptrmcky great idea on having the portrait done with the city lights in the background. @PitchBlack My mouth dropped when I saw that photo! Absolutely awesome!
'been very busy the last couple of month, so unfortunately photography was pushed back on the priority list. Plan for 2014 is to post 1 photo per week on PAD, so here we go. A quick intro to our meeting in ME in March
A quiet little corner in my parents' home. I'll call this "Window with a Glow." What I need is one of PitchBlack's models sitting in the chair looking out. Great work everyone.
Much of the Morton Arboretum was closed today due to snow conditions. This was taken on the way back out towards the entrance. Big time cold tonight and tomorrow. Brrrrr ... (yes, at -27 to -28C tomorrow morning, we will also be feeling your pain, Pierre!)

Mine for today. This is a resplendent quetzel, a pretty rare bird found in Costa Rica. Had to get up before dawn and wait near this tree in pitch black. He came pretty early, and my initial shots were way too backlit, even when spot metering and shooting a full stop over. Eventually though, we got more light and he moved to a point where I could get between him and the sun. The whole thing took about 10 minutes, and then he was gone into the rainforest. I made a DIY beauty dish and was going to test it on the dogs. My wife filled in for a lighting test and this capture was far better than the dogs.
