The wolves approached the meat with their tails between their legs, seemed to have far too high respect of the magpies than one would think was natural.
The Alpha couple in this zoo passed away and from what we were told no new Alpha couple have emerged yet.
The wolves in this zoo (Kristiansand, Norway) have such a large area to roam that the only time you're guaranteed to see them is during feeding time.

In a lion park close to Johannesburg, I met some cubs including this 5 month old male who decided he wanted a closer look at my camera:

    Pumice Castle
    Crater Lake, Oregon

    Pumice Castle

When I went to Oregon last month, I had my 20, 28, 50 1.2, 85 and 200 in the bag. I figured that I would use the 200 for Macro and the odd landscape shot. This lenses proved very useful for landscapes as the above photo shows. You won't get a sharper image at 200mm unless you buy the 200mm f/2.0 for 3 times the price, and then probably not by much.

It even proved handy for wildlife, as the previous "Chip or Dale" showed and some upcoming shots will. It was certainly not ideal for wildlife, but lugging around anything heavier was not a serious option.

Gertrude's final appearance as she exits stage up rather than confront the tiny frog. I exit state 180 as a lightning bolt flashes overhead. Tiny and Gertrude both missing from the storm.

@ proudgeek. I still think your photograph is great. Don't knock yourself.

@ FreezeAction, Gertrude sure is beautiful. Just don't let her drive (she looks big enough). Is you putting her in the hot pepper plans her idea of a Michelin 3 star meal?

Talking of which... I was out at Greywalls yesterday. It is a Lutyens designed building that is a posh restaurant/ hotel surrounded by 14 golf courses, including the likes of Muirfield. I packed for general photography and for macro photography. The general photography was for during the meal. The macro was due to the place having an absolutely beautiful garden, with hens, birds, insects etc. So, I took D800 and Sigma 180mm macro lens, flash, reflector, tripod RRS head and macro reals, iPad and CamRanger, remote release, etc. Unfortunately for me it was blowing a Force 8. It kind of made any macro photography a joke. Here is one that was a partial success (no photo stacking). It was taken hand held with my D300 and Sigma 18-35mm!.

    2014:08:17 : 12 : 27 - Greywalls - 033

    Cheers,

    Hval
