I find that this 28mm lens is the most useful focal length for landscapes. I am not a hundred percent sure, but I think it beats my 14-24 2.8 in sharpness, particularly at f/5.6 to f/8.0 where I use it for landscapes. It seems to be sharpest at f/5.6 so that is my default stop. This is pretty astounding given that it is an older manual focus lens first introduced in 1981. Manual focus is no big deal and very easy to use. Most of the time I was focusing at infinity and only had to pay attention to focussing when there was close foreground objects in the frame.
