Since I don't have a lot of experience shooting portraits, I decided to give it a shot using myself as the model in the mirror. Could probably have filled the frame more.

Well, since It's too cold out, I'll be PPing for a few days. Here's another longer exposure shot with people in it in the dark.

It was REALLY cold out tonight. My fingers are still stiff... :-)

After taking his picture, he stopped to chat with me about photography. He said he still uses his original Canon Rebel from 1990 for wide architecture shots.

I played around tonight with intentional motion blur. Whether it was panning the skateboarders I saw tonight or a slow shutter speed to blur the persons movement. It was fun. I had a lot of throw aways, but it was a learning experience.

@proudgeek I think that turned out well! I'm curious how you got the colored stars? Not that I think it looks bad, just curious :)

Did she jump into freezing cold water in the dead of winter? Yes. If that is not the classic definition of BATS**T CRAZY, I don't know what is!! It gets into single digits here at night and early morning. Would I go jump into a lake with those temperatures? Not if you held a f'n pistol to my head!

Had sort of a triple test this Sunday.
Test of camera and lens with model getting things sorted out for a paid shoot in 14 days (got way too much non-photography work going on at time...) Then I had to test out an old apartment to see if that could be turned into a studio / meeting place for the local camera club. Could have been a higher ceiling and the walls will need paint, but all in all good place for us I think.

I have been to that fort many times. The soldiers did not have much in the way of creature comforts, but then again, when have they ever? We stayed in GP large tents during Desert Storm when the temperature inside them during the day climbed well over 100º.

Nothing amazing, but I thought the orange bike on white snow was kind of striking.

    Striking colors!

The next time I passed by there the snow was all gone.
