"Look how sharp my cat is" I laugh every time I see that in a photo forum. I know you might be surprised, but I do have a macro lens and a bounce flash. I don't use either very often since the Tammy 200-500 lives on my camera.. by krisinct, on Flickr">" />
Wow! Now that's what I call a great cat shot! I have been trying to get a picture of my cat with his mouth open for the last 15 years now, and so far I haven't even come close.
BTW.......those big canines.......have you ever been bitten by a cat ? Believe me, you'll never believe how hard a cat can bite until one gets those fangs in your hand; Our little female cat chomped down on my hand for no apparent reason, shortly after we had her; I kept her penned up for about a week on the advice of the Vet, then finally let her out; that was about 3 or 3 1/2 years ago; now she has turned into a total "lap cat", follows me every where I go.
Coastal and Gitzo...yes, one of the very best shots of a cat. And, the biting will sometime occur if we are too friendly and rubbing the cat. It is like she bites here mother after having been licked on. Unfortunately, the fur on my hand is not very thick...
I will have to play with my 105 when it gets here, so maybe "Grace" will mean it back to PAD
Continuing my Africa series, November 2011 We pulled off at a remote rest area in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. There were quite a few domesticated Superb Starlings that where following me around looking for my dropped crumbs. I took over thirty shots of this guy and this is the only one that is in the best focus. Very lively birds, they are hard to photograph. Enjoy!
Pickeral, I noticed you dropped the El, when do you leave for your hike, and what photo gear will you take? Are you hiking south to north? Where do you leave from?
Continue to enjoy all the photos... Great range. Great ideas. Thanks to all.
Last photo from Ethiopia. Hard to catch this one. Saw the coffee being poured. Grabbed camera and shot, hoping settings would be OK. (obvious...f/2.8 with flash at ISO 800! I guess I had enough light) :-)
D800, 60mm macro, 1/60 @ f/2.8 with flash, ISO 800.
@ Gitzo and MS, we know all about the fangs. He looks cute and innocent, but he is a moody devil cat. We rescued him 5 years and and doesn't know the old saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you" My wife gets the brunt of it and he is more like a dog to me. When i get home from work he greets me like a dog would, normally jumps in my lap and licks my pants or shoes, then bites my wife a few times for good measure She spoils him now that he is our only pet.
